The Kitchin presents modern British seasonal cuisine influenced by French cooking techniques and an appreciation of the best quality ingredients available from Scotland's fantastic natural larder. The restaurantâs philosophy âFrom Nature to Plateâ, is a t
From the moment we entered The Kitchin we felt at ease - you knew you were in safe hands. The service was impeccable from taking our coats to placing them back on us. It was like a quietly orchestrated performance and while there is clearly a hierarchy one never felt that the servers were stifled. The set lunch menu was a superb selection from the a la carte and you were also reminded that you could mix and match from both menus if something wasnât quite to your liking which was also nice but not needed. Mr Kitchin was in The Kitchen and it was an added bonus to view through the full width windows how the brigade moved around each other, getting the orders out. I wonât run through the menu because thatâs all been done before but I would sum up by saying the whole experience (oh, and no chasing us away from the table by a certain time) was great value for money, of a predictably high standard and we enjoyed every minute of it. Itâs easy to get to from Edinburgh Waverley station on a single ten minute bus ride door to door and I have no hesitation urging people to go!

Martin Wishart, an Edinburgh-born chef, has firmly established himself as one of the UKâs most highly respected chefs. It is the importance of fresh ingredients, discipline in the kitchen, a passion for food and a deep understanding of classic French cook
This is the second Michelin Star restaurant we have visited this year. What a fabulous experience. It has the character found in Leith and celebrates its location and regional foods by being unpretentious and fitting in to the setting. Once inside the atmosphere clearly indicates that one has stepped up to another dining experience. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Each plate was presented as a work of art, which seems to be a hallmark of award winning restaurants. Once seated one begins to be served multiple, tastes, and bits of interesting Bites. Itâs a bit pretentious, one bread choice was described in heavy French accent as having porridge, I asked âoatmeal?â , yes, oatmeal bread with three butters or toppings in tiny arranged dishes. I chose a lamb main course that my husband described as so tender âyou could eat it if you had no teethâ with a lovely crusty top breading. I would return for that. He had an amazing fish main. One thing we enjoyed, all diners seemed were dressed as if this was special. We agree, it is special.

Stockbridge might be off the beaten track for some people in Edinburgh, but a visit to Radicibus is more than worth it. The complimentary pre starter was an explosion of wonderful flavours. The bucatini alla amatriciana was perfect - freshly made pasta, rich tomato sauce and melt in mouth pigâs cheeks. Even the biscuit in the tiramisu are home made. Giovanni exudes passion about the food and the service is warm and informative.

Popped in on the off chance of breakfast before driving home. It is a splendid place for a weekend brunch. The food was delicious (I had Eggs Nobles which is eggs Benedict with black pudding). The coffee was rich and the surroundings were charming. If you are in the Leith area then I would definitely recommend it. If you are not it's worth a drive from Edinburgh.
