Traditional Highland pub in the village of Dornie serving local ales, evening meals and an excellent range of whisky.
We visited this pub for evening meal, it was early and so very quiet, the staff were friendly with a nice greeting. The menu is fairly limited, I chose haggis, neaps and tattles a truly traditional Scottish dish? Mine came the haggis having being formed in a ring decorated with a small amount of greenery on the top, it was accompanied by swede pieces which were cooked and tender and new potatoes, no mash, no gravy a fairly dry concoction, sadly the haggis was flavour free and was far away from similar meals I have had in other restaurants or pubs. My wife chose the Scampi and chips this came with side salad which was fresh. The scampi was also tasteless and the chips seemed to be of the frozen kind. We visited this pub because it was local to our accommodation and had reasonable reports on trip advisor. Sadly our experience was not a good or positive one.

We went after seeing the seafood platter online but everyone beat us there. The kitchen was running low, the wait staff was frazzled, and it just didn't work. The stars did not align-it was a holiday weekend, our bad choice. The manager, noticing our discomfort went out of his way to make things right. We will go back and try again-thanks for being the great Scottish host.

We had a lovely meal here on the last night of our holiday. Service was quick and friendly and the prices quite reasonable. We had a great starter, a seafood platter of locally sourced salmon, crab and langoustines. The kids had burgers which were very tasty and came with twice-cooked chips, delicious! Pudding was also very good and very chocolatey, a hit with the kids! This pub is quite small and we tried to book to avoid disappointment but they only take bookings for parties over 6 people. We went early to get a table which was just as well because it soon filled up and when we left people were queuing for a table.

This was our first visit to Glenelg for a holiday, and the Glenelg Inn is a gem in the middle of this wonderful community. We felt very welcome, even though there were lots of locals in the bar, and the staff were really friendly and helpful too. We were lucky to be there for two different live music events, both of them were excellent. And the food! Wow! We ate at the Inn for lunch and dinner a few times during our holiday, and it was quite simply superb every time. Great choices for vegetarians and vegans, which can be unusual in a local pub. Good to see local ingredients used. Highly recommended.
