Visited this afternoon for my brothers birthday having booked ahead. My mum knows Sheila the proprietor who also is well known for her accolades within The Strathaven Hotel. We were greeted so warmly it was like meeting close family, the waitress reciprocated this welcome and the chefs smiled, setting the mood instantly.Drinks orders were placed promptly and delivered promptly, all with a smile. The menu is varied and we were given enough time to decide but not enough that we waited, perfect! Our parties starters consisted of calamari, prawn cocktails, soup and grilled halloumi. All were presented beautifully and arrived at the same time. I love my halloumi and it was devine. All plates were cleared with praise all around the table. Our mains consisted of steak pies which were served with puffy pastry, veg and a choice of mash or chips. Pizzas, which were baked in the beautiful pizza oven in the kitchen which is in full view of the restaurant, it also provides the cosy warmth of the space. The toppings were spread evenly and the base was thin and crispy, as it should be. The pizzas are a generous size, well worth indulging! The balmoral chicken was succulent and stuffed with haggis served with fondant potato and veg with a decadent creamy sauce. I had a chicken caesar salad, again the serving was generous and I'm mega fussy so my specification of dressing on the side, no egg and extra parmesan was never questioned. I had a side order of fries and they were sublime! Hot, golden and excellently cooked. Everyone finished what they ordered without a single complaint. Please note that they will cater your dish to whatever you want or don't want. After all, its YOUR meal and they work with that ethos.Birthdays are well received in here, Sheila will insist on making your day very special so feel free to bring a cake and balloons, the staff will join in singing Happy Birthday to you or a loved one. The service is impeccable from beginning to end and there is no question that we will be returning. The decor is stylish and smart-casual, but nobody will be turned away. There is a large car park at the rear of the building, the entrance to the restaurant is also at the rear, disabled access too.Outdoor seating for when the weather is nice is also for your use and the view from this area is tranquil and ambient. It sits near the foot of Loudoun Hill and would be the perfect refresher after a walk up and down!Price wise our bill came to just over £130. That included starters, mains and two rounds of drinks with some alcohol for 6 people. That's impressive. Needless to say we left a great tip.A fantastic day had by all, thank you so much Sheila and crew!

We have stumbled upon this great little restaurant. I’ve had breakfast which was made to order, lunch and now dinner. The service is good. Ambience nice. The food excellent!!! I had asked again for something not on the menu, they actually met my request and delivered my favourite pud, macaroons... delicious, thank you! It was busy with two large groups but this did not impact on the service or quality of our experience. It is rare to feel totally one hundred percent happy after a meal. My standards are reasonably high but I get sick of poor service and mediocre food when I know I can present a meal at a better standard, for a fraction of the cost. This restaurant is certainly achieving everything I require and I can recommend it highly. The monkfish starter was just delicious. My husbands steak was cooked, as he likes to perfection, melting in his mouth.

A delicious breakfast served by caring and attentive staff. Some building work has caused a temporary change to dining which means a little of the high end service had disappeared. Not quite the relaxing comfortable experience it used to be. Buffet table was nearly empty when I arrived at 7.20. Difficult other customers returning food they didn’t like the look of meant my breakfast was slightly delayed. All in all a very good try and certainly won’t stop me eating here again.
