Visited twice recently and second visit as good as the first. Had lunch both times and found the 2 course lunch menu great value and went on to have dessert etc. Food presented beautifully and was as good as it looked. Staff so pleasant and accommodating. I would suggest this is a real asset to Strathpeffer and hope locals as well as visitors take the opportunity to visit. One real blessing no smell of stale cooking oil that one so often comes across when trying to find an eatery. So highly recommend and thank you Red Poppy, you deserve to do well based on the service we received.

Because of we had no reservation for the much more cosy Red Poppy this was our only dinner option near Strathpeffer. The restaurant is in a very posh castle hotel. The nice environment is it's main attraction. The food is fairly moderate with a high price.

I attended this venue for a music show not as a restaurant. I understand the restaurant is no longer open except for private functions. As a fan of Rufus Wainwright I attended this surprisingly intimate venue to attend a show on 18/11/2016. Amongst other scheduled events of art shows, craft stalls and diet support evenings Rufus had a gig. Very strange. The venue is lovely. The sound and lighting were good, the room very cozy with a gorgeous balcony. I had a fantastic show with bonus of spending a night in lovely Strathpeffer. The staff are fantastic. Everyone very nice and I understand that some staff volunteered their services that evening to help out and make the event happen. Due to no fault of their own the piano lorry broke down on the way to the show and arrived late. This meant the soundcheck was late and we were waiting outside in -2! Despite this they let us in and lined us up in the hallway inside as they couldn't let us into the main room as usual due to the H & S elements of the soundcheck. Those of us who had been waiting hours to get a good seat in the unreserved set up were acknowledged and the staff made sure we went in to the room in the same order. It was all very civilised. I gather that some people moaned to the staff but it was not their fault we had to wait.I had a great night. Loved the venue. Loved the staff. Loved the town! I would definately come again.
