Discover Restaurants offering the best Balti food in Stonehaven, Scotland, United Kingdom. Stonehaven (/stoʊnˈheɪvən/ ( listen); [stinˈhaiv] ( listen)) is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It lies on Scotland's northeast coast and had a population of 11,602 (Scotland's Census 2011). After the demise of the town of Kincardine, which was gradually abandoned after the destruction of its royal castle in the Wars of Independence, the Scottish Parliament made Stonehaven the successor county town of Kincardineshire. Stonehaven had grown around an Iron Age fishing village, now the "Auld Toon" ("old town"), and expanded inland from the seaside. As late as the 16th century, old maps indicate the town was called Stonehyve, Stonehive, Pont also adding the alternative Duniness. It is known informally to locals as Stoney.

When you first start to climb the stairs you are immediately hit by the 80's flashing lights. The restaurant is well proportioned but badly laidout, the staff are very attentive and friendly. You are immediately asked if you want poppadoms be careful these are not part of the buffet package and cost extra!!!!The buffet food is ok but limited. Unless you know your indian food you have to guess what the abbreviations are. On a whole not a bad experiance, great staff.

This was our first visit to Tandoori Haven and the outcome was a mixed experience. Perhaps this was due to an understaffing issue on that night and if so perhaps our experience is not what customers normally experience. Basically the food was very good but the service was very erratic. On arrival, we perceived that the greeting was more than a little offhand as the only member of staff serving at that point concentrated more on taking telephone orders for 'take-away' customers. It appeared that this continued for most of the first hour whilst the restaurant received numerous phone calls and further 'eat-in' customers. I don't want to provide much more detail about our experience, however, I was at one point almost at the point of walking out. I felt that we were being 'delayed' while the kitchen was dealing with the 'take-away' meals. Eventually as people collected their 'carry-outs' service did improve in terms of attention and interaction but the damage to customer perception had been done. Regarding the food presentation and the quality of the food everything was of a good standard. The food was very good, the presentation was flawless and the price very reasonable. I felt obliged to write this review so that the management of this potentially excellent restaurant might review their procedures and staffing in relation to dealing with in-house customers and the carry-out side of the business. Most people who go out for a meal want good food and good service with no distractions or compromises to the service resulting from another component of the business operation.
