Website designed and maintained by Jim DickThe Bangladeshi word âShukriaâ derives itâs name from the Arabic word âShakiraâ meaning â Thankfulâ. As many of you will probably relate the word Shakira to a very well known pop singing star, the people of Peebl

Second time we've eaen here and the food is excellent. Strangely enough we were the only ones in the restaurant on a Saturday night but the carry out service was non stop while we were there.

One damp evening we were feeling a bit peckish so decided to pop in for a curry each. The greeting was friendly enough and a table was quickly found for us. We ordered a drink each and after reading the menu (which had loads of different choices to our usual curry house in Scarborough) we ordered a curry each, a bread and a rice. The waiting staff seemed a little put out that we hadn't ordered more and asked twice if that was all we wanted. The food came out after an appropriate wait and the portion size was about right. The flavours didn't really match the description, and in particular my curry was overpoweringly sweet, but it was ok. My partner's curry was less spicy than described, but otherwise ok.Getting the bill took quite a long time, and added to the impression that although there were enough staff they just weren't very efficient at coping with the relatively small number of people in the restaurant (about 40% occupied). At the price point it is ok, the food is nice enough, and we would pop in again, but it isn't an 'oh I can't wait to go' type restaurant.
