Pleasant bar-cum-restaurant. Massive range of well priced menu choices for all day eating. Really generous portion sizes. Meals well presented. Steak and ale pie was ok, beef quite chunky and soft. Macaroni was quite creamy but not overly cheesy, burger really meaty and tasty, and off the chip menu had the chunky chips covered in mac and cheese which was really great value rather than a full macaroni from the main menu. Kids pizza was tasty albeit it looked like a microwaveable Chicago town effort but does come with a choice of 2 sides and at a very reasonable price. Staff all really friendly and helpful.

Although the place was buzzing there is ample space between tables for privacy. Our restaurant staff, Megan and Alex, were very attentive and friendly - good humoured! We each had a different main course which was tasty and brought to our table in god time. Staff enquired when drinks required refreshed and all in all we had a relaxed get together in this lovely auld inn setting.Anne B, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at The Hawes Inn! Three of us stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had steak pie my partner had macaroni and chips while our niece had a chicken burger and chips. Wait for it £18.00 including three soft drinks what amazing value. The menu is nothing fancy but they have a specials board too. All our food was very tasty and generous portions too. I would highly recommend the Cotters to anyone. Its just good pub grub at a price I have not seen anywhere for a long time. The two staff who took our orders and served us our food looked very busy but they made sure they were polite and friendly to us. Great wee find I will be back.

Old school hospitability at its best. The Ghillies restaurant is pleasant and relaxing and upstairs from the rest of the hotel. Basic layout with some homely touches. Then comes Robert in full kilt kit to take your order. This man can teach a few people about real customer service. Wine list is short and reasonably priced with some good wine choices.Food was ordered and arrived surprisingly quickly with ample portions and well cooked. Dessert menu was attractive and so tested it as well.thank you very much for your kind review we try to make our customers feel at home and hopefully looked after, we appreciate you have a choice and chose to visit us. So glad you enjoyed it and we look forward to you visiting again. Best wishes for the season

Been here a couple of times to eat, as it's close to my girlfriend's flat.Today, we were in for breakfast. My girlfriend, ordered a Scottish breakfast & I ordered a roll in veg sausage & potato scone.Unfortunately, they were out of veg sausage, but the lovely server, offered me alternatives. The food is top class, for a pub & the staff are consistently nice, which makes for a good environment. There's a good selection on the menu & the prices are great too.The game changer, would be if there was a vegan selection! :)The beer gardens a nice touch as well as being owe to the train station.Hi Karen S,Thanks so much for your great review! We are so glad you enjoyed your visit with us today and that we managed to find a suitable alternative for your breakfast! We will definitely take on board your feedback regarding vegan breakfast options and hopefully we will see some vegan options on our next menu change. Don’t forget, we have our vegan menu running from 12pm daily. Kind regards

This quaint little pub is just fantastic! The fish and chips were crispy, airy and succulent. The chips were real chips and were delicious. The servings are huge but they will prepare them in halves for two seperate meals, at no extra cost. Prices are super reasonable but tables are limited. The service is impeccable and the drinks and staff are great! A good little pub on the Main Street. Highly recommended.
