The Justinless is a beautiful historical building which was built in 1858 and is located in Dalkeith just 10 miles from Edinburgh City Centre. All the family can enjoy a fantastic dining experience in The Justinlees - We pride ourselves offering something
My husband and I went for something to eat and it was the first time I had ate there. There was the option for two courses for (I think) £7.95 and you get what you pay for. It was fine. I would probably go back. The place itself is spacious and there was no rush to get the table back. My husband and I were waiting on the keys to our new house last week.Sarah A, thank you for your kind words and this wonderful review! We hope to be of service to you again in the future. Best wishes, Justinlees InnRegardsRoger, Alex and the Team

So disappointed â¹ï¸This place has the great looks the patter and nice staff. What it doesnât have is gluten free foods. Not even fish and chips!!! That came as a great shock because nowadays practically all eating places serve various choices of gluten free food. The waitress even tried to say to me âThereâs plenty vegetarian choicesâ. I was like âwell that may be the case but it all has gluten in itâ!!! Obviously no training done here on allergies and seriously itâs shocking that in this day and age that this place is years behind the time. My friend had a burger and she said it was beautiful. The food certainly looked very nice that was going out to others. I had to pick the least thing that would cause effect so it was fish and chips and leave the batter to the side. As for going back again, well unfortunately, due to lack of food for me itâs a big fat NO!!!My suggestion would be to sort your menu out so you are up to the standard of every other resturant in the U.KHi,I am very sorry that you have chose to write a review like this and feel that this was your experience. We have many items on the menu that are gluten free and have a strong team who are trained to show you our allergen guides and go through processes to ensure guests with allergies can make an informed decision. It is unfortunate that on this occasion you did not want to go through these with the team member and insisted that you wanted to have fish and chips - which you are correct in stating that we don't have a gluten free batter for this but you chose to eat it regardless as this was what you wanted to eat.Allergies are a massive responsibility for our team and the processes we have are in place to ensure our guest safety at all times. I'm sorry you didn't feel your experience was great Team Melville
Where to eat Cafe food in Dalkeith: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We visited here for lunch with friends we were visiting. It was quite busy when we arrived and had a warm welcoming, cosy atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced and there was a good selection available on the menu. We ordered Sunday roast, barbecue fillet of chicken, Italian burger and a panini. All of the mains were lovely but the portion size of the roast could have been bigger. For dessert we had 2 sticky toffee puddings and a crumble. The sticky toffee was one of the best we have had anywhere. The service was good throughout. The only reason we cant give a 5 star rating is because the portion size of the Sunday roast wasn't big enough to fill one of our party - even though it was very nice. We would go again if we were in the area and would recommend The Black Bull.

Passed it and place looks really nice. Decided the next night to order take away as their website claims this is a main part of their business model. ordered two meals but only one arrived. Was sorted in a reasonable time but still meant my wife had eaten hers by the time my replacement arrived, not ideal for our wee treat together and night off from kids. The food was nothing special, it was ok, but including delivery a couple mac'n'cheese and chips was around £30. I couldnt really claim it was good value. Sorry, i hate being negative on reviews but just wasnt a good experience. staff seem friendly enough and delivery driver was speedy. Maybe eating in is better and I wish all local business success as Dalkeith needs variety but fairest I can say was mediocre.Hello treksspexwherenext,Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your below par first experience in ordering from us. We are really disappointed to hear you didn't receive all your order at the same time. This just normally doesn't happen with us and can only say it was a rare mix up with one dish being left behind, so please accept our apologies. We take pride in our diners and customers being completely happy, whether they are at home or dining in with us.There is a discount voucher set aside for you, so the next time you are passing please pop in and pick this up, we would like to give you the opportunity to change your opinion of us to the 5 * dining experience we routinely offer.

My husband and I went for dinner and as we have been there before thought it would have been good - it wasn't. The customer service was fantastic - couldn't fault it but the food was shockingly bad and I feel that I've been cheated out of £60. The salad which came with the salad was warm, the chicken strips were tasteless and my main wasn't the best sea bass as it was served with what looked like everybody's left overs. I should have complaint but I was drinking wine and didn't realise how bad it was until I got home. I felt terrible for three days and now just recovering for it. My husband felt the same. We won't be returning.

Called in with my daughter for lunch and we had a great time. Food was fantastic and staff were great and chatted as they worked. Both staff serving weren't kids and they would have put the kids to shame, they were busy but we're lovely with little diners and they just worked together beautifully. The food was great and freshly cooked. We both had pasta which was divine and hot and bubbly which is my perfect meal. Definitely worth a visit. We loved it. X
