We received a warm welcome by staff who advised they were currently quiet so feel free to pick our table. We choose a table by the window in the restaurant which was very comfortable and stylish. The staff were very attentive and helpful throughout our stay. We had mushroom brusetta for starters which was very tasty and well presented. The roast of the day was pork which again was very good and beautifully presented. The vegetables were varied eg broccoli, cauliflower, parsnip etc and still had a "bite" which is so much better than over cooked vgetables. We did not manage a dessert. Highly recommend and will most definitely return.

Nothing against staff individually, but there was not enough of them and they were so so poorly trained and had no table manners. The food was either over or undercooked, my salmon was so dry, otherwise would have been lovely. Deserts were to die for though, highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding, if itâs still on special!

We came across this restaurant recently and went in for lunch. We were given a very friendly welcome by the staff. We decided on the two course lunch which was excellent value for money. My wife had the pate and I had the mussels- both were excellent. For the main we both had fish cake with chilli jam - again it was excellent. We will definitely visit again. Also they have a sister restaurant at the Hill of Tarvit which we will also pay a visit. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.P.S. Service was very good and staff very helpful.

The Balbirnie Bistro, a charming and intimate great value restaurant, set within the original kitchens of Grade A Listed Balbirnie House. Our specialities are mussels, great burgers, salads, traditional and classic bistro favourites, steak frites, and sun
Lacking in atmosphere the food was nice enough not outstanding. Donât like paper napkins and no table covers just a personal thing but not for me. We wish we had booked the other restaurant, but it didnât seem clear online where to get bar snacks drinks etc, one member of staff sent us down to the bistro for an afternoon snack as we couldnât check in until 2 only to be told we had to go to the âlounge areaâ we only wanted something light as we had dinner at 7 so back upstairs it was. All a bit confusing Staff were lovely though

Visited on Saturday 31st August with family. My meal of jumbo prawns as starter schnitzel as main and apple slices with ice cream has got to be one of the best meals I have eaten in a restaurant, couldn't fault in in any way, that coupled with excellent service, ensured it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Would certainly recommend this place

The elegant modern dining room has a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Short hand-written menus change frequently, as they are based on local seasonal ingredients. A concise interesting choice ensures that each dish is prepared individually for each customer,
We have eaten at Ostlers several times and always enjoyed the food however last Fridayy we were disappointed. The Pigeon breast was not tasty, a little overcooked. The fish disk with five different fishes had two fish, the scallop and the monk fish definitely overcooked. I believe that a little 'stock taking' needs to happen and perhaps a visit to The Gamba to understand how fish should be cooked. We have eaten at the Gamba for 14 years, three times a year and have never had anything but a superb meal as we did last night. Our view is meant to be constructive!

We have been here a few times now and keep returning. The cakes and coffee are delicious as is their soups and salads. Generous portions at very reasonable prices. The couple who run the café are very friendly and helpful and are willing to please their customers. I ordered a cup of tea and I was offered a choice of tea from a wide selection of teas; I thought that was a really nice touch. The café itself is bright and airy and very welcoming and it is now our favourite café.

We were looking to go somewhere new and decided to head north from our base just outside Cumbernauld having found excellent Tripadvisor reviews on The Roost just a fortnight before - we werenât disappointed. The car park was full but we managed to squeeze in and were warmly welcomed into the small but comfortable restaurant by the excellent staff: Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and no-one was disappointed with anything they ate with the pork belly ribs and the passion fruit bombe getting rave reviews. A truly memorable experience which was well worth the 50 minute drive each way. Thank you.

I mean this as a compliment, so don't you be taking umbrage! The Village Inn has all of the best of a small restaurant that you'd find in England-and I've been to quite a few, with my family. Very cosy, with a welcoming atmosphere and tables filled with families, enjoying its very good menu. Excellent service. I thoroughly recommend it- and the warm Scottish extras gave it the added edge! Long may Pubs like these continue to serve their communities..
