A local traditional Scottish resturant with a French twist, all ingredients from a 20 mile radius and all cooked with a passion.
We visited as we are on holiday in the area. The booking was easy . The waiter was very good: attentive but not intrusive. I had excellent crab cakes and Haddock Thermidor crepe. My wifeâs Hake was superb too. Highly recommended restaurant.Weâll definitely visit again and again.
We stayed in Galloway cottages and used the Surfside a couple of times, the menu is fast food but quite broad (have a look at their website for full detalils) you get 10% off for online orders and ours was ready within 10 minutes of ordering as promised). Portions are generous and it's reasonably priced

Family of 7 went for dinner on a Saturday evening. We had 2 gift vouchers & travelled 45 mins for a reservation that we booked over 4wks ago. Only 1/3 of our entire bill was covered by vouchers. Dinner is a set choice menu. First ever visit. Arrived to lukewarm welcome from reception staff. Told to go to the conservatory or we could go to one of the lounges. Conservatory had a bar so we went to it. Met by another lukewarm reception at the bar & told by a large non smiling man it was table service. Young waitress brought the dinner menu's to us while we had our drinks & pretty underwhelming canapés. After our orders were taken told to go through to dining rm as table was ready. Table next to piano in the first part of dining room, slight partition separates the 2 halves. Water brought to table & our glasses were filled up. Starter came & portion was small but ok. Next course was a Thai soup which seemed weird considering the menu had no other spicey food on it. There was butter on the table but nothing to spread it on. We thought bread/rolls would arrive but they didn't. No one came back to ask if we were OK for drinks so we had to get up & ask. Main course came so there wasn't much point asking for rolls at that stage. 4 people at our table had lamb & 3 had chicken however the gravy on the chicken tasted like lamb. Big wait for someone to come back & take our dessert order. We could see lots of rolls being handed out at the other side of the room. Lemon tart & biscuits & cheese. Very small portion of pretty poor selection of cheeses. The pastry on the lemon tart was very undercooked and not a hint of lemon. Coffee & petite fours served in either of the lounges. Very small table for 7 people in the lounge. Petite fours better than the lemon tart. We ordered 2 malt whisky of the month & both arrived with ice in which wasn't what we had asked for so one was sent back & the ice fished out of the other. Toilets are almost in another time zone. No-one offered to hang our coats up but we spotted the hooks. Considering how much money we spent the food & service were mediocre. My over generous family left a substantial tip which I thought was unjustified really. The pianist obviously thought she was at a pensioners tea dance & to be fair there was a substantial amount of elderly people in the place. The setting of Cally Palace is lovely & the building, from the outside is impressive. However the interior furnishings are tired & the chairs need a good clean & in the dining rm re-sprung. Apparently the Cally is a four star but the food, service & some of the furniture wasn't. Massively disappointed & wouldn't go back. Vastly over rated. 3 star more accurate.

We stopped for a light lunch and to get out of the rain. As we had 2 dogs with us we were shown to a nice area where they were welcome. Water and treats were available also.We had soup and a sandwich each which, because it was Sunday lunchtime, took a little while to arrive, but no big deal. Our waitress was really nice, very friendly and funny. This is a really nice place and we were glad we chose it above all the others available. Recommended.

Friendly Vegan / Vegetarian Cafe with a Craft, Gift and Haberdashery Shop set in a beautiful converted church in Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries & Galloway. Lovely choice of cakes, pastries, and home cooked wholesome meat-free meals. Speciality Teas, Freshly
Ate here with my family and two dogs. We sat outside as it was a lovely day but we were told we very welcome to go inside with the dogs. All our meals were tasty, quick service and reasonable price. Took puddings away with us but the Raspberry and almond frangipane (vegan) was superb! Good selection on the menu so definitely recommend if you are in the area. It was lovely to see you and your dogs in The Crafty Crow, and we're very pleased you enjoyed your visit. Do come and see us again soon!

Spotless with wonderful thought given to homemade lunch choices, excellent coffee, superb cakes, and of course fresh scones! Even the toilet was immaculate with attention to detail. Soft jazz music playlist, friendly and efficient owner/server and the icing on the cake - truly dog friendly with clean water and a dog biscuit.

Basecamp Cafe at Laggan Outdoor offer locally sourced, fresh produce prepared and served in our 45 seat cafe, featuring world class panoramic sea and mountain views. Open all year, with select evening dining. Available for private hire and functions.
We came here as my kids were ziplining and thought we would for lunch first (due to the picture of a massive burger on the Laggan Outdoor leaflet. However, burgers are not on the menu (I think this is only occasionally if they have a BBQ?). Kids were disappointed but one had a jacket potato, the other a cheese toastie. I had soup and a quiche and my mum had soup and a bacon roll.We both had flat white coffees which were not very hot, but didnt say anything - we were too thirsty and it was quite busy. The staff were very friendly -nice little place with lovely views.

Bar food plus restaurant and conservatory dining. Real Ales. Bar open all day. Child and dog (bar only) friendly. Beer garden. Quiz night Wednesdays and open music night Thursdays.
I ate here with a group of friends when visiting Gatehouse of Fleet for a wedding. As the token vegan I was worried about eating options in a small town, but the Masonic Arms offered multiple choices for vegans and vegetarians which were clearly marked. The menu was also well described for coeliacs as well. I loved the vegan shepherdâs pie!

I have visited the GBH on 3 occasions now and always suggest it to friends who visit us in gatehouse. We visited on a Saturday night and had to push our reservation back an hour which the staff were happy to do despite the restaurant being very busy. We all enjoyed our food. The burgers were exceptional and cooked to perfection. We also had just enough room for dessert. The pecan pie was delightful. All reasonably priced and competitive. The staff were friendly as always. We even bought some preserves and sauces from the shop!

No 1 Fleet Street offers excellent food at reasonable prices in a stylish restaurant. We really enjoyed the scallops - big portion, tasty and at £8.50 for 3 big scallops felt good value.Mains at £mid teens were also good - duck was our favourite.Nice choice of wine by the glass and friendly service.Much to like.Thank you for taking time to review us. We are glad you enjoyed your experience with us and you particularly liked the scallops. We are lucky to get fresh scallops daily and all local and great quality here.
