The village of Alloway is home to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and the Robert Burns Heritage Trail. Highlights of the trail include Auld Kirk Alloway, Burns Cottage, Burns Monument Gardens and the 13th century Brig O'Doon. South of Alloway along the attractive A719 coastal road is Culzean Castle and Country Park which offers much of interest all ages. En route is an unusual roadside attraction called Electric Brae, a 'magnetic hill' where a car left out of gear will appear to go uphill due to an optical illusion. A few minutes drive from Culzean Castle is the famous Open Golf championship course at Turnberry where the clubhouse is open to the public.

My wife and I had lunch on Saturday and the food was lovely. What made our lunch special was our waitress, Holly, rarely have we found someone so pleasant and helpful. These are not, in my opinion, qualities that can be taught. Holly is a natural and made our experience all the more enjoyable, treat her well Buzzworks

A family owned public house in a seaside town centre, a welcoming friendly atmosphere offering a good range of food and drinks. Beer garden with 125 seating capacity for those summer months.

We have been here 3 or 4 times over the years (we aren't local) and it has never disappointed us. They have the best (perhaps the only?) beer garden in Troon; Well-maintained, private and pleasant. It is 15:30 on 1/6/19 and we have literally just left because we had to go back to our hotel to get ready for dinner tonight but we both felt the need to say that the service, atmosphere and overall management are all fantastic.

The staff are friendly. It’s a small friendly bar, with a separate restaurant section. It has a very local feeling, whilst the food has good choices. My favourite remains their peppercorn steak. It’s the second time I have visited. Last month it was with visiting friends from California, who all enjoyed the food tremendously. The place is rustic, classical, & clean. I found scrabble, books for kids to scribbble on, & some books if you get bored. Dog friendly. It’s homely service with a beautiful smile.

stopped on our way home for a meal. The place is furnished and decorated to a very clean, modern standard and is clean and comfortable. The staff are all very helpful friendly and attentive - thank you. Our food was perfectly acceptable and cooked well, nothing more nothing less. If passing we would go again, but wouldn't go out of our way to eat there.

We spend about a week every month in Ayr, and in the past couple of years, usually eat at the Waterfront at least once during those weeks. The food is good, but it seems obvious to us that management has slipped over the past 6 months or so. If you book a table - don’t expect to get what you asked for! Service some days is poor - because they are clearly understaffed for the numbers. We always book - but suspect many do not, and the staff are caught unawares. Also - in hot weather, low ceiling means the restaurant is very stuffy inside. Menu usually changes regularly - but has been the same all summer - and frankly - not really what I want, so has become a bit boring.

Definitely some staff training required here! Called in for lunch and the food was good. Both had the lentil soup which had great flavour but was a tiny portion and barely covered the bottom of the plate. For mains had the sole which was slightly dry and the sea bass which was by far the favourite. Service was really poor, waited ages for the soup to arrive and eventually had to chase this up, also had to go looking for a waitress to pay the bill.

We visited with another couple having all happened to be off on a Monday. The venue wasn't overly busy but two courses took over hour and half to serve four of us. When the dishes came they were average, I only had one course so was disappointed by the time my main came having waited so long from orders, to starters and eventually getting main courses. When we paid the bill, the server then struggled to half the bill in two and one of us had to tell her while she trying to half around £60. Disappointed compared to previous visits and other recommendations.

If a waiter or waitress tells you “ take care the plates are really hot” , what is your assumption ?Two steaks in our party were :Not cooked to the preference Inedible My wife and I had microwaved pasta, gold on the top, white underneath. If you want to book this place for food, ask if there they are catering for a wedding at the same time.Won’t be back, my stomach deserves better.Dear MannyPee,Thank you for your review. I am disappointed to read most of your negative reviews seem to be based on Troon. We operate 2 kitchens, 1 for the weddings and 1 for the other 2 restaurants. A wedding doesn't affect the operation of the main kitchen. Your table was quality checked and no comment was made about any concerns.I feel this review is excessive and not a true reflection of the hotel. We would ask anyone reading this review to please check the other reviews without prejudice and make up their own mind.Yours sincerely,Karel KuhlerManaging Director

Terrible experience.Arrived at 1.20pm ordered at 1.40pm waited 35 mins for our main course and felt cold by this time.Should have walked out but did not..Ordered the lamb cofta,,as recommend. by the waitress, as I said I liked lamb,as not sure if I would like it. When it finally arrived I could not eat it as a bit dry and far to spicy. Spoke to Dorothy the owner who,s attitude appeared to be well you ordered it . She did not offer to try and sort anything out for me My friend and Ileft without ordering a sweet or coffee It’s a sad day when a pensioner leaves dissatisfied with no food having paid £12.95. and had travelled over 15miles. Will not be back or recommend.could be small ,so asked the waitress about the lamb cofta.I should have asked what cofta was as did not know and only asked about lamb on flat bread. She felt I would like it. So thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately I could not eat it as the lamb is made minced up and does not taste like lamb. When I said to the waitress I felt it was too spicy and was dry. I was left with nothing to eat..Dorothy came over, but her attitude was well to bad that is what you ordered. As a new customer having travelled 20miles she could have tried to sort something out but did not appear to be interested. We did not stay on for a pudding. A pensioner that pays £12.95 and has to leave well over an hour with nothing to eat is shocking. Will never be back and don’t recommend.
