The food was excellent, especially the flounder was perfectly cooked. The service was still learning a bit, as the restaurant had just opened about a month ago.The location next to old city, old harbour buildings and new marina is peaceful and with nice views. For us visiting the city by boat, the location can't be better.

Surprisingly there were very few people in the restaurant at lunchtime on a weekday. My dish with two varieties of fresh fish was excellent. A very historic place catering to the captains and officers of the shipping industry. Interesting ships models hang from the ceiling and a corner is devoted to display of navigation instruments. There is even a table reserved for those patrons who are ship's captains. Will visit again if I can make it back to Lubeck.

Visited this restaurant as an option close to my hotel. It closed early at nine pm that day but the lady was kind to let me sit. Service was fast and courteous. Ordered a veal schnitzel and potatoes, it was good and I was satisfied.

As it was hot we ordered a HUGO, an aperitif made with Prosecco, elderflower syrup, lime, mint and soda (â¬6.50) which was a perfect start to a memorable meal. My husband ordered the Dorschbuletten with salad and Remoulade sauce (fish cakes with salad; â¬11.00) and I had the Paniertes Schweineschnitzel with Dörrtomaten-Nudelsalat (pork schnitzel with cold tomato pasta salad; â¬11.00). It was lovely sitting in the courtyard and our dishes were both outstanding. A Michelin quality meal café prices.

On the 15th of August 2014, I sat down with my three (teenage) kids, to have a last drink (soda for them, a calvados (preferably) for me). We had spend the week before in Sweden, building a raft and floating it down the Klarälven. To recover from our hardship (it wasn't all that bad), we had booked ourselves into the Spa in Bad Schwartau. Which then finally leads me to the story at hand.We had eaten at the local pizzeria and were on our way to Haus Magdalena (wonderful place, different review), when we passed this Peffer und Salz place and decided to have a nightcap (for me then, that is, as said). Now, the boys love playing cards. We basically play only "klaverjas", a sort of simplified version of bridge. We were almost done with a game and so pulled out the cards to finish,. After having ordered the drink from an otherwise helpful waitress, the, presumably, owner, came out. He enquired about the game we were playing and despite my explanation ruled it to be âa game of chanceâ and asked us to leave. Now, you can call me biased on account of being Dutch and all, but having lived in Germany for a number of years, normally that chip is of my shoulders. I have now looked over the restaurantâs menu (insofar as this offers any insight other than âausgesuchte Steaks etcâ)and augmended by the fact that this place rocketed to be the 3rd best restaurant in Bad Schwartau on the basis of one review alone leads me to the hope the ownerâs peculiar (to use a euphemism) behavior is borne from his frustration to find himself being a mediocre cook in even more mediocre restaurant as opposed to his perhaps squashed ambition to be a Michelin star. The alternative, otherwise, is an insult to my many good German colleagues and indeed friends.Either way, if you find yourselves in Bad Schwartau, better to avoid this place. I doubt very much anything these people serve can compensate for the aftertaste of narrow-mindedness.

Didnât book thought it would be fine on Monday evening and it was. Plenty of space. Unassuming from the outside. We had their special aperitif with raspberries delicious. I had what was described on the English translation of the menu as plaice with potato and cucumber salad but when it came it was cod/ possibly haddock with potato purée. It was delicious. My husband had the chicken. Equally delicious and very succulent. Large portions. Friendly service. We sat outside as it was hot in a tiny little courtyard. If in Lübeck eat here!

Came here two days in a row because of how much I enjoyed it. Its the perfect kind of food to fuel you for a big tour around town. The food is delicious, the menu is comprehensive with lots of vegetarian options, the staff are super lovely and helpful and also its super cheap, definitely one of the best eats in town for a quick stop. Would recommend the Turkish delight or tandoori chicken, both were outstanding.

Letâs start with the conclusion: we got caught by Fangfrisch, hook, line and sinker. Itâs fabulous: food is fresh and tasty, staff friendly and efficient, it is extremely good value for money and the decor is lovely, too. It must be one of the best restaurants in Lübeck. Period. Itâs now our go-to when in town. My favourite is the fish soup. On my first visit I had the starter portion, followed by a hake on lentils. It was delicious and it was way too much. The starter portion is big enough as a main. The husband loves the Krabbenbrot as a starter: tiny shrimps piled high on dark bread. Whatever main courses we had - it was always super fresh. Everything gets washed down nicely with a bottle of very reasonable and very crisp white wine. Try the Grauburgunder. It is delicious. Fangfrisch also offer a nice selection of craft beer and tasty herbal tea. What is there not to like? Well, perhaps that they close quite early.

The cafe/restaurant âErdapfelâ, whose name refers to the potato, has become one of Lübeckâs best addresses for a really decent meal - fast, really tasty, quite healthy (vegetarian with vegan options) and reasonably priced. After multiple visits, I strongly recommend this place for tourists as well as locals â only if Youâre hungry, though, as for nice drinks and coziness, there are other places.
