Reviews on German food in Pirna, Saxony, Germany. Pirna (Upper Sorbian: Pěrno) is a town in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, capital of the administrative district Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge. The town's population is over 37,000. Pirna is located near Dresden and is an important district town as well as a Große Kreisstadt. It is also known for the gassing of about 15,000 disabled people in Sonnenstein Castle between June 1940 and August 1941, killings which ceased after pressure was exerted on the authorities by the local population. Today, a small plaque at the base of Sonnenstein Castle and the Sonnenstein Memorial remembers the dead.

we were here for lunch when visiting/passing through Pirna. There are a number of restaurants all in the same square and we chose this one as we liked the look of their menu and it was in the sun! Food was good, we both had schintzel and asparagus well we were in Germany and it was in season! Both were very good as was the service.

After a lovely bike ride along the banks of the Elbe on a cold but sunny Sunday, we happened across this lovely restaurant. I had a goose leg with red cabbage and dumpling, my friend enjoyed the roast beef with sweet potato fries. The food was excellent. To accompany the meal we each had a glass of Hacker-Pschorr weissbier. It was a very nice beer for lunchtime, maybe the best. Service was good. I will bring my family here next time.

It is a shame how getting to the public money to eliminate the flood damage in the region. Here in Pirna the market square and the City Centre looks after 7 months, as if the flooding of the Elbe is just drained. The impression of this now renovated restaurant is even more surprising: all renewed, friendly service and outstanding cuisine. We have enjoyed with our Australian guest the roast of deer and wild boar dishes! We have made our tour of the city after the good meal and admired the many construction sites. There is hope that the picturesque town of Pirna, will be a magnet for tourists in the summer.

I came here with my German family from Pirna. We first sat outside which was wonderful except for the road noise. As our group grew, we eventually had to move inside. It was just as nice and even quieter. The food and service were excellent. The waiters were very kind and professional. I had the daily special- flounder with shrimp and speck (bacon). Now, you can add shrimp and bacon to anything and it will taste good, but this fish was great on its own and the accoutrements just made it even better. Cue the fried potatoes and the green beans and you end up with a symphony of flavor. My cousin and I tried several of the beers. The Keller beer on tap, then the Atlantic and the Arctic ales in bottles. I wish they were all on tap but alas, you canât have everything. They were all very good, the arctic being particularly to my liking, in spite of the â¬6.50 price tag. I also had the chocolate raspberry dessert with vanilla ice cream. Turns out it was a fabulous chocolate fondant. In summary, this meal was excellent in every way.

Central location - just off the Markt. Good menu. Friendly and efficient staff. Service was fairly quick even though the restaurant was busy. Good atmosphere with the back courtyard the best place on a warm evening. Prices are reasonable. Well worth a visit.

Burger and beer on the market 4 - home-brewed beer , homemade burgers, salads , cakes and desserts made ââfrom local ingredients in the old town of Pirna
Arrived here on a busy Sunday afternoon but the waitress couldn't have been more patient and helpful (I don't think they have an English menu). She made things (not on the menu) especially for my children. I recommend their excellent homemade fries, especially the sweet potato fries. Great views over the square too, so all in all a really nice place for a relaxing meal.

Who is on the way to Saxon Switzerland, comes at the Brauhaus Pirna "Zum Giesser" barely passing. For years, the brewery has been firmly established in the region. Take a seat near the great brewing kettle and enjoy a homely atmosphere, the good food and
We have been staying in the Sachsische Schweiz but eat outside the hotel. We like to try different places. And it's not often that we return to a restaurant. But at Brauhaus "Zum Giesser" we had so great service the first time and such a lovely diner. That we had to return there the last night of our stay. Although the terrace was full of Germans watching the football game between Holland-Germany, the restaurant upstairs was serving a good dinner. I can't mention one thing that went wrong. Excellent but down to earth food. We loved it! Go there and enjoy yourself!

We enjoyed dinner here twice. There was a good selection of items all very well prepared. Portions were generous. We liked our server very much, she was most professional and looked after us. We asked her to save our bottle of wine which we had not finished for the following night which she was happy to do.There is a hand written English translation of the menu which is helpful for non-German speaking guests
