We stayed in Ferienhof Dittrichs Erben only one night but I can imagine having a holiday in this place. It is a quiet place, the apartment is fully equipped with everything you need, comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom with a shower/tub combination, toiletries included everthing spotlessly clean. Our apartment was 22,on the first floor. Breakfast is lavish, there is actually anything you can imagine, breads, hams, cheeses, salads, fruits, musli, cornflakes, coffee, tea, juices etc. -everything fresh and tasty. The surrounding is picturesque with a tree walkway in the middle and loads of restaurants on both sides. If you want a quick snack, there is Donner Kebab nearby. The area looks very safe, clean, tidy and quaint. Bike rental in the building. Highly recommended.

We found this restaurant to be extremely pleasant, with very tasty and different food. Small little house, but well worth a visit. Even better for us, we had the choice of large or small portions. I would highly recommend. More local than touristy.

Supremely slow wait staff, mediocre food, big disappointment! I had heard good comments from other family members, but when my friends and I went for lunch it was less than impressive. Plus, the door to the outside eating area was open and the cigarette smoke was awful.

By a friend, who lives in Radebeul, we were advised not to eat in Dresden but to try 'Alte Apotheke' in Radebeul to have original, down-to-earth food. When we entered the place we were very happy to find such a place, full of locals, eating and chatting. We ordered two soups, Solianka (which my Ukrainian girlfriend rated higher than the Solianka back home) and the poatoe soup with sausage. I had the 'Sauerbraten' with dumplings (wonderful) and my girlfriend the 'Schweinehaxe'. I tried it and I have to say it was juicy and the skin as it should be, perfect. For a local food experience this is really the place to go.

Domkeller is an excellent restaurant within the precincts of old Meissen across from the new (13th century) Cathedral. They offer delicious traditional German cuisine and an excellent selection of beer and Saxon wines in a casual setting. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal thoroughly. I had the roast goose with red cabbage and a large potato dumpling, which was very satisfying. My wife's venison was excellent and came with the best Brussels sprouts that she had ever tasted. We paired our lunch with one of our favorite white wines: the excellent Schloss Proschwitz Grauburgunder which is made in Saxony. The service was friendly, and acceptable for casual dining. The restaurant is located in a very old house with wonderful character and a lovely view over Meissen from the dining room.

It's a small restaurant run by a couple. It offers German cuisine in a lighter and more sophisticated version (if you'd like a pork knuckle with fried potatos - I am afraid this is not going to happen in 30s Weinbistro), like a chantarelle cream soup, a cold soup made of a cucumber and bit of wasabi, a ratatouille with local cheese in millefeuille crust, etc. Just make sure you don't miss home made sorbets - they are unforgettable!

It was a great choice to reserve a table in this tiny place. Our host not only welcomed us nicely but also enquired about our wine preferences. We ended up only drinking the wine he recommended, and it was a fabulous idea. We even went back the next day to taste more. Even though the menu was small (we had known that before), the food was delicious. The homemade bread was warm and all we needed with the wine. We will come back for sure!

... where you can get a gastronomic orgasm. The place is nice, with a well balanced design (not too trendy, not too classic) and the food is often surprising with a high quality standard. However I got the feeling that they have struggeled to maintain the level or I was simply to used to be surprised there that I got used to it and did not realized it.

TheSpitzhaus restaurant was a 10 minute drive from our vacation apartment in the Wilder Mann neighborhood of Dresden and was recommended by friends-of-friends. We were glad we had the navigation system to aid us in getting there - the restaurant is in a rather out-of-the-way location. The service was slow, but friendly (in helping us translate the menu) and accommodating (in preparing a dish that was no longer on the menu). My salmon, my son's schnitzel, and our friend's mushroom dish were all good. The view was beautiful! A lovely place to spend a summer's evening.

The vineyard made a good sidetrip from Dresden, accessible by local train. We had audioguides for our tour as it was in German only. These worked well and the emphasis on the science and process of winemaking was fascinating. It was a very hot day and the vineyard was hosting a jazz festival with many families in the grounds enjoying picnics and the local wines. The restaurant was a cool retreat and we were able to get a table without a reservation. My starter of ham terrine in a herb jelly with a sweetwine icecream was as delicious as it was unusual. Creative use of herbs and seasonal flavours in all the dishes and of course excellent and very reasonable wine by the glass to accompany. A cabinet of cakes tempted us with dessert.A really good option for when you have exhausted the delights of the city.
