I stayed here for the first time in 2009 and marvelled at the decadent food and the sparkling powerhouse that was Madam Loiseau. To top it all, I remember watching children playing in the pool thinking how refreshingly wonderful it was that a hotel of this calibre was actively enticing children and families to their establishment. I made a mental note, that when I had my own family I would return. Fast forward ten years, with two children in tow, and thats exactly what I did. Sadly this stay was not quite as successful. We had two interconnecting rooms, which were very basic and small. I appreciate that can be French style but in this instance they really needed renovating. The children had room service but there was no space at all to eat it. We enjoyed dinner but service was slow and food was nowhere near as good as it was some ten years ago. All in all our stay was a disappointment. Staff were not on the ball and we actually left feeling like we weren't welcome. Sadly I cannot recommend.

Morvan Regional Park is a generous land, famous for its lakes and enchanting forests. Only 2 hours from Paris and Lyon, camping Saulieu welcomes you for an unforgettable stay! Located in the heart of nature, this site has 100 pitches on an area of 6 hectares. Several lodging formulas are available (chalets comfort, mobile homes and mini-cottages). You can also stay in traditional campsites. Many events and activities are waiting for you!
My wife and I, and our two dogs, stayed here for two nights in a "Chalet confort". Two bedrooms + sofa bed + shower/separate toilet + kitchen/dining. Campsite is peaceful and secluded, and staff at reception very friendly and helpful. As usual at sites this early in the season, none of the facilities were open (snack bar, pool etc). I always wonder why this is never made clear at booking. But no matter, it was exactly what we wanted. The cabin was very clean and tidy, with an excellent shower and a nice little veranda facing the setting sun. The outside needs a lick of paint, and the grass everywhere needs cut. But I can forgive this entirely at the tail end of a pandemic and in the midst of an economic crisis. Saulieu is only 10 mins walk away and was pleasantly busy on a sunny Saturday morning. We visited the open air market, had a stroll and drank coffee at Café Parisien, where we booked dinner for the evening including live music (guitarist followed by late jazz). For £55 per night this is excellent value.

Free parking space inside the hotel is already a nice to have. Next comes the rooms which are spacy with large bathrooms. Might want to close the windows at night as you are located next to the old "Nationale 6" where trucks do drive around at night. The restaurant is the true gem of this place imo (photo included). A totally vintage like room with attention to detail. However what you eat is Burgundy and all wines are selected from the Burgundy region for everyones budget. The friendly service will help you if you ask politely. Prices are more than correct for what you get.

The owner is very friendly. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean. Beds are confortable. Rooms on the graden side are very quiet. The only disappointment was breakfast. We were expecting a better one looking at the picture on the website and the grading of the restaurant.
