Sarria is a municipality in the province of Lugo, northwestern Spain, in the autonomous community of Galicia. Sarria is the most densely populated town on the French Way in Galicia, with 13,700 inhabitants. It is head of the region and a popular starting point for the Camino de Santiago; many pilgrims choose Sarria because the distance from this point to Santiago allows them to cover the necessary kilometers to reach the Compostela. King Alfonso IX of León died in Sarria in 1230 while making a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Sarria also represents the point of entry to the beautiful landscapes, such as Os Ancares and O Courel, east of Galicia.

Experience at the best price Enjoy the best homemade food at homely prices thanks to the daily menus offered in the dining room of the Hotel Mar de Plata. At a very affordable price, both our guests and people who are passing through, will taste our dishes, the Galician octopus and meat which are the protagonists. If you prefer something more special, you will have available an exquisite menu with traditional meals of the highest quality thanks to the continued innovation of our plates. Also, do not hesitate to accompany these delicious meals with wine from our small but fine menu. Our restaurant, with capacity for 130 people, becomes a perfect place for celebrations and company meals, within a very versatile space which can be adapted to your requirements.
We stayed net door in the Pension and decided to make it an early night, however once inside the restaurant we met other fellow walkers and with good food good drink and good company it became a great night. We would eat here again.Dear Stilly1, We very much appreciate your recommendation, it helps us to continue with enthusiasm in our work. Thanks again. Emilio

We had a great evening at this little Casa. Hosts really warm and friendly. Excellent friendly service. Simple menu but lovely local food. A little way out of Sarria but easy by taxi and hosts helped with return when we finished earlier than expected. Superb value at 10 euros per head including wine

Arrived on a warm June day after a 22km walk along the Camino, which goes right past the hotel. Hotel just east of city centre. Pleasant room with good view, but a bit noisy late being Saturday night.
Not much of note on eating in Sarria on TA, so decided to eat in the hotel dining room & was very pleasantly surprised.
Good wine list & the food was Spanish with a leaning towards Galician specialities. Excellent steak from mature beasts well hung & served as requested. Very nice lobster served paella style, enough for 2 to share, good service & the maitre d has good English. All seafood seemed fresh & of good quality.

Restaurant in Sarria for Pilgrims and Neighbors, Specialty in Pizzas, Italian Dishes, Market Cuisine and Galician meats, we have accommodation in Hostel
In Sarria for the Camino walk, saw the reviews for this place and gave it a shot. Very quaint, up in the old section of town. Flatbread type pizzas appeared to be their specialty so we went with one topped with another regional favorite, aged ham. This pizza was a feast for the eyes and stomach!!! Unbelievable flavor and crust to die for. Also had a large mixed salad (tasty) and a dessert Nutella pizza. If you go on Camino, stop in here!!

Salento is located in what is known as El Malecón (esplanade along the river). Though they serve a couple of other dishes like salads and hamburgers, they specialize in pizzas and that is the only food I’ve had there.
The pizzas are very good, thin crusted and large enough for two unless you are very hungry or have walked for 5 hours doing the Camino. Some of the flavors are uncommon and sometimes canned ingredients (i.e. mushrooms) are favored over fresh ones. If you are in doubt ask. You can also create your own flavor, starting from scratch and adding the ingredients you prefer. Décor is nothing to write home about but in all but the coldest months you will most likely be seated outside so it becomes irrelevant. Service is good and there is a will to please but it can be a bit slow when crowded.
Considering the size of the Pizzas and that prices start at about 6 euros, this place is fast-food cheap.
You can order to.

Our private transfer "taxi" recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Turned out to be our favourite restaurant on the Camino (well, not on the Camino but in the town). Superb food, freshly prepared with local produce. Will not disappoint. Popular with locals as well so best to book.
