We would not normally eat at restaurants 'on the square' or overlooking the port as this one is, because we always think they will be tourist traps, but this one could not be more different. The food was fantastic and views over the port really make the atmosphere of this restaurant. Every time we went we had to book and people were waiting for tables all night. The also list wine from the local vineyard as well as lots of other local wines. We had the sea food platter one night between two and it was difficult to finish because it had so many lovely different seafoods.

Had lunch on a saturday, it was empty. The restaurant is located near the beach and is decorated in a old marine style. I ordered mussel and they were very fresh and tasty. Next I order "grilled gambas", but I was served small shrimp that were overdone. I also asked for "alvarinho wine" which was not chilled enough. The garçon was regardful.

We have been using trip advisor to pick hotels and restaurants for a while and have never been disappointed until now. I have no idea how this restaurant got so many high reviews. It was the worst meal we had on our whole vacation and it was expensive too. There are so many restaurants in the area that we were having a hard time choosing. We chose to eat here because they had outside seating, the restaurant was cute, and it received many rave reviews on TripAdvisor. We sat out at a table on the sidewalk and were promptly greeted. Right away we were surprised they did not serve sangria, but ordered wine instead. The calamari appetizer was okay and the simple salad was really good, but the positives end there.My sons ordered chuleta de ternera which looked amazing but was undercooked and chewy. The seasoning was way off too, just too much garlic and nothing else.My husband and I got the seafood paella to share. It was served soupy which could have been okay because it settled after sitting for a while, but the taste was just gross. To top it off the seafood was sandy. Just overall not what we were hoping for in a family meal. The fact that the dinner was 92 euros only made it worse. Had a much better and cheaper meal at a restaurant down the street the night before.Service was lower than average too. Would not recommend this restaurant.

Popular place right on the harbour; ideal if you want good fresh seafood and fast service. It often seems full, but if you wait for 5 to 10 minutes tables often become free, as turnover is pretty quick. By the same token it's not a relaxing place to linger - perhaps move on elsewhere for another course or dessert.

Solo puedo opinar a nivel de consumidor de barra ya que no estuve en el comedor.Pero aunque solo sea para tomar un vino es un sitio tranquilo, los camareros son agradables y está en la zona de ambiente, si bien algo escondido lo cual se traduce en que la clientela es más a base de autóctonos que de turistas, lo cual se agradece.Los precios de las raciones expuestos en una pizarra son muy económicos.

We found ourselves in Sanxenxo on business before the beginning of the Spanish tourist season. Many restaurants along the harbor side were not yet open for the season. The restaurant proved to be a good choice. Food was well prepared and nicely presented. The service was friendly and attentive.

Good quality. Not 5 stars as the service was a little bit slow. 20 minutes to get the first dish in summer period. Bur the quality was good. We asked for a half mariscada(seafood) and was perfect.

We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for a few days. The food lived up to expectations great chiporones to start and turbot cooked the Galician way for the main. Amanda had sole a la plancha which she said was the best she had tasted! The front of house is friendly and helpful too! The only drawback is the proximity to a very loud and noisy fairground!!

We were recommended this place by some locals in a vinoteca in Cambados (also very good), otherwise we probably wouldn't have happened upon it. But thank goodness we did, as it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. It seems to be a hotspot for local winemakers and chefs, and I can see why. Miguel was a truly wonderful host - his passion and understanding of Galician wine just oozed from him, and we felt completely comfortable putting ourselves in his hands to select wines by the glass for us to drink. There is nothing pretentious about this place - it is a simple taverna, but one that will bowl you over by genuinely warm hospitality, decent food and outstanding wines (with good glassware). Hands down our best dining experience in Galicia, we only wish we had arrived in a taxi so we could have enjoyed it even more...NB. Portonovo itself was also a very pleasant surprise and was far more charming than we had anticipated. Worth putting an afternoon aside to explore if you like food and wine.
