Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic and a UNESCO world heritage site, is the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the Americas and one of the most populous cities in the Caribbean. The city is a mix of old world charm and modern Latin flair. Its medieval palaces and fortresses mix with nightlife and shopping to rival any modern city in the world. You'll find pristine beaches and hidden gems like a salsa/merengue club set inside a huge underground cave.

I always stay here when I come to Santo Domingo. Its an older hotel but the rooms are very large with refrigerators and some rooms even have kitchens, oh yes and Hot Water LOL Talk about location location location? This hotel is centrally located right on the conde’ steps from the super market, shopping and sidewalk cafes and let me not forget they offer FREE Hot breakfast at there cafe down the street. I would recommend this establishment.

Tobiah Casa Reyes is part of a small boutique hotel corporation for all public, adventurous, family and business travelers who are looking for cozy spaces, all located in tourist, historic and commercial areas. Our rooms are cozy, totally renovated and complete committed with a trained staff and focused on providing services and memorable experiences
My family and I stayed here for a long weekend in the capital. We found the apartment to be quite spacious, it had very comfy beds and nice sheets. The service was fantastic! The breakfast was anything but "continental." Multiple kinds of fresh fruit, fresh juice, toast, eggs, pancakes, cereal, coffee. A full breakfast. The location of Casa Reyes was perfect for us to visit the Zona Colonial. Thanks to the staff! We loved it!

Fixie Lofts is a stunning facility. It's a restored hospital from the 16th century and it is immaculate. I stayed in a loft on the second floor overlooking the street. Everything is well placed, clean, cared for, and intentionally modern/rustic. Location is one block from the main square in the Colonial Zone. Can't ask for a better location for exploring. *I would not recommend the second floor loft if you are physically challenged and have problem with stairs. *One drawback, as well, is it isn't the greatest place if you want to hangout in the apartment. The wicker chairs are nice and hand made and comfortable for short sits. However, they are not comfortable for extended lounging. Nonetheless, i would highly recommend this stellar apartment.

We were skeptical about staying at this hotel when we read the reviews before booking. However, considering the proximity to the location of the event that we would be attending everyday, we decided to book the first 3 of the 15 nights we would be spending in Santo Domingo at this hotel so that we could do our own assement. After the 2nd night, with my wife's approval, we extended our stay to 15 days. Below are the reasons for the extension. 1. Great location considering the proximity to the Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez we had events at, a block to a supermarket for shopping for food, great coffee shops, fast food places to get in and out, and even a few nice bars and clubs 2. We did not only feel safe in the hotel, but in the entire environment as we strolled to and fro the stadium in the afternoon and evenings 3. The room comes with a perfect little kitchen, medium size fridge, electric stove, utensils & plates for home cooking and dining experience. We felt at home as we love home made meals. 4. Also, in the room is a dinning table with 2 chairs, 2 medium size bed side tables, a dresser, a full size closet and a TV. We had no issues with the TV throughout 5. The Bed is very comfortable with nice pillows which we enjoyed till we left 6. Free WiFi, initially had issue with the connection but Emmanuel helped to address the issue and we had great connection thereafter 7. Language barrier was broken with Google Translate app on mobile phones that all the receptionist - Ezequiel, Emmanuel etc. used with us throughout our stay. 8. Extending the duration of our stay after the first 2 nights was made easy by Emmanuel despite the online "sold out" message 9. Despite our selection to pay onsite, we were able to pay with credit card 10. I initially thought only cold water was available in the bathroom, but my wife who is smarter than me figured out the hot water 11. The AC in our room worked so well that we felt like not leaving the room for the scorching heat outside 12. All the hotel staff including the Janitor, despite not speaking English, were very helpful at making our stay there enjoyable The crack in the roof of the bathroom area of the room (possibly due to the age of the building) should be repaired urgently before it gets bad.

This is more motel than hotel. And forget the “aparta” part. My mom has been coming here for years and she admits that the amenities have been declining (she believes it’s to cut costs). The workers can seem a bit lazy & not as ready or willing to work as they should but they are good people. Pros: -free wifi in rooms -Hot water in shower -One bottle water on day 1 of your stay - free dominican breakfast (juice, coffee (no milk), fried egg, salami/ham/hot dog, and mangu/guineito/) -Mini fridge -Air conditioner -Local TV channels (you need to ask for a box if there is none) Large rooms with large beds -security guard on premises 24/7 -table & 2 chairs -kitchen sink -large closet - located near a supermarket, Pola, where u can buy bottled water, toiletries, snacks, fruits, beer, etc. The supermarket has an inexpensive cafetería on the 2nd floor with a salad bar & hot buffet with dominican food. You can dine-in or takeout. -located near hair and nail salon, and trendy restaurant and bar. Cons: - toiletries are not restocked in rooms - no elevator - no hotel restaurant - no gym or pool - no room service - no hotel computer (to print boarding passes, etc) - no outgoing calls to cell numbers (only outgoing to landlines) - rooms can be in bad condition. They gave us a room with a broken window. Broken as in the windowframe was not in the track & so it not latch, so anyone could just climb through the window & into ur room!!! - no iron or hairdryer in room. - no coffee machine in room - not located in a “tourist area”. This might be a con if you want to be near zona colonial.
