We stopped here for drinks and tapas one afternoon during our visit to Santiago. As much as we love Presidente, we found ourselves craving a cold Belgian beer to battle the heat and humidity of Santiago. We found the answer to our prayers at Vino e Beber, where we had tons of options. We were also pleasantly surprised at how delicious the tapas were. We tried four and found the portion size to be very generous. My #1 recommendation is the arepitas. I don't have a picture to add to my review because they were gone so quickly. We were here in the early afternoon, so we had the place almost to ourselves, but I'd imagine it is very popular in the evenings. Great service, great food, great beer. Great decision.Bonus: wireless, indoor air-conditioned space AND outdoor open air space.

I was overly impressed by the decoration, ambience and construction of this place. The place is inviting, elegant, upscale, but doesn't truly deliver on the wine drinking experience. It's obvious that the owner invested money and labor to create the best wine store and light restaurant in Santiago. Sadly, he felt short of it. He needs to go the extra mile to make his dream a reality. My review of this place isn't as positive as the other reviews in this page, perhaps because I looked at the place from another angle and my experience was different. When I arrived, I was greeted by a server named "Julio", who was very pleasant and friendly. We sat in one of the tables in the back and Julio just stood there next to us and asked how he could serve us; I told him that I needed to see the menu to answer his question. Upon my request, Julio gave us the food menu. I asked him about a wine menu and was told that I needed to stand up and pick my own wine from the walls. I gladly accepted the invitation to the adventure and Julio guided me through the wine store and showed me how the wines were categorized by country. I wandered through the store just to get a general feeling for what wines they had. I noticed that the wines on the wall had no prices, which I thought was awkward; every wine store that I've ever gone to has prices clearly displayed for each bottle. The process of selecting a wine includes a price/budget component to it plus a region/winery and varietal choice. A wine drinker mixes these 3 variables before making a choice in a restaurant or wine store. I usually have a budget of how much I'd like to spend on a bottle of wine before I make a choice from a wine list -there are occasions when I want to drink a bottle in the USD $10 range, or the $20 range or the $30 range, etc. This wine store makes it particularly difficult for a wine drinker to pick a bottle. Since there are no prices displayed on the walls, it's very difficult to make an educated choice. Julio didn't have a single price on his head, so every time I wanted to know the price of a bottle, he had to take the bottle to the front desk's cash register and ask a girl to scan it. I grew tired of this back-and-forth price inquiry process and, out of frustration, just chose an Argentinian wine (Malbec) that I've drunk before and that was reasonably priced at about USD $20. After I chose my wine, I sat and selected some appetizers from the food menu and enjoyed my wine. The food came, and I was delighted with my choices. The food is good, but not great. The prices are average for a place like this. I wasn't particularly fond of the way the food was plated. Food is not all about how it tastes; its presentation is 50% of the experience. I'd give this place another chance; it has a nice vibe and the food is good and its prices are average. It's too bad that they don't deliver on the wine experience by making it particularly difficult for a customer to make an educated wine choice. I think that this place hasn't understood that it's not in the wine or food business, but in the entertainment business. A successful wine store or restaurant provides a delightful experience to its customers; it doesn't just sell wine or food. This place has to go the extra mile to start selling experiences; only then it will truly become the best wine store and restaurant in Santiago.
