This was a most unusual experience on the positive side. We were staying in San Agutstin and rented a car for the day and were recommended to stop at the Martell restaurant in Madronal. The place in itself is a museum, apparently used to be a general store, and there is plenty to see. LOTS of wine bottles and other items, the place is huge. We arrived at lunch time and had the place to ourselves and were very well treated. We tried the house specialty, a different kind of tapas, Started off with mushrooms in garlic sauce with bacon, then some chorizo followed by a ”pulled” lamb with zucchini in fig sauce which was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and were treated to a glass of muscatell wine and a delicious mousse as a ”relaxer”. A hidden gem which would have been impossible to find had we not been recommended by our host. Would definitely recommend both for the experience as well as the food.

Nice dinner with good friends from GC and Norway. The Bambio-menu was not so good, the same goes for the fries. The meat was excellent. Friendly staff, but not very good in speaking English. The service was good. Plus for trampolina for the kids. Do...MoreDear Eva, thanks for rating your experience at our restaurant. This is a very important part of our growth. We will let know your thoughts to our team. Hope to see you soon. Kind regards

Specialising in home cooking and local wines. Traditional Canarian house. Pleasant family atmosphere. Large variety of dishes such as soups, chickpeas, ribs, rabbit meat, goat meat, pork. Fresh local produce. Easy parking. Bus Stop right in front (Bus 303. Gran Parada Stop). Reservations taken. Major credit cards. Opens Tuesdays to Sundays. Free Wifi.
The affable Chago, is a former bus driver and butcher who decided to start his own wayside saloon and eatery. Thank heavens for his sense of adventure because the establishment serves good fare in a mid-priced range. They also make their customers feel welcomed and at home in this intimate surroundings. One warning, the restaurant /bar is rather small so it might be crowded and somewhat noisy.

Excellent restaurant situated in the Mountains with very well prepared food and amazing desserts. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious!! Very good and friendly service. The views from the dining room are breathtaking!! A must to visit during your visit on Gran Canaria!!

Recently my family and I had lunch at this restaurant in the center of Santa Brigida, a town in the foothils of Gran Canaria, just 12 kilometers from the capital of Las Palmas. The food was excellent and the service staff very attentive and gracious. In Mainland Spain this sort of establishment would be considered a top of the line "casa de comida" although the Cuchara de Plata offers much higher quality. Although there is a daily, set-priced menu, I would encourage diners to delve into the extensive specialities in the Spanish tradition. You will not be disappointed. As with other home-style restaurants, the Cuchara can attract a big crowd but the din is minimal--surprising for the Canary Islands!

We combined lunch here after a wine tasting at the attached "wine museum". The museum has the widest selection of Gran Canarian wines on the Island and has a rotating selection of 3 open for tasting. Knowledgable and informative host. The meal was terrific - the staff kindly allowed us to have half and tasting sized portions of nine of their Canarian starters to share - including grilled El Hiero cheese, shark, goat, rabbit...all tasty, distinct and well cooked. This with a local white wine from Las Tirajanas, coffees and snifters of honey rum came to just €26 each, what a feast and much appreciated.

Found this lovely place by accident. I can only echo previous comments. Friendly, good food and service. Would loved to have visited again unfotunately the hire car goes back tomorrow.. Had an amazing lunch of chorizo and albonigas, with drinks €16.50. Do yourself a favour and visit! Open till 2 and most evenings except Sunday from around 1830.

Went here on last years golf trip to Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas and had one of the best dining experiences ever . Interesting variety of starters , huge steaks cooked over wood , local grilled veg , lots of wine and a bottle of brandy left on the table to help ourselves !
Based on last year we revisited this year and if anything the food was even better . If this isn't enough the service was amazing - the lady ( owner with ) husband )serving spoke little English and yet got all our orders spot on with a lovely smile and nothing too much trouble . It was so good we returned two nights later and yet again we were treated royally . The only saving grace is that I don't live nearby or I'd be the size of a house ! Lovely atmosphere , lovely food and lovely people
9 of us ate and drink as much as was sensible and the bill was €445 with a €50 much deserved tip - unbelievable !!!

Typical roadside bar up in the Mountains, yet people queuing outside for a table on a Sunday lunchtime ! Place is amazing, plenty for the eye to gaze on.......old artifacts, bottles, pictures.....very small bar with only a few tables downstairs.....and then up some little steps to another 4 tables upstairs along with a bit of a museum....incredible !!
That's just the place....the food is also amazing, so authentic.....menu on a blackboard on the wall....all tapas dishes, only in Spanish, friendly young waiters and waitresses. We were taken on a day's outing by a Spanish couple, otherwise we would never have found such a bar as this ! So frills restaurant, pure Spanish, eat like they do.......Potatoes with green Mojo sauce, Chickpeas in sauce, large Butter beans in sauce, thinly sliced pork with crackling, cooked Chorizo sausage bites, chunky fried chicken/pork and Beef stew with potatoes & carrots are the English equivalents !! Everything was absolutely delicious, all accompanied with a litre of their house red wine, finished off with a 'flan' - ,close to our creme caramel, so so good. This was a superb experience in an amazing authentic and interesting Spanish bar, all locals, no wonder they were queuing !! Definitely recommended if ever you are in this area.....it's on the road down from Teror, beautiful views and scenery around here too. Thank you Manolo !

Typically french with this touch of spanish inspiration so the best of both world ! Very large choices of starters that you can also choose to take as Tapas with friends and make a complete meal out of them. The mane courses are very generous and the meat wonderfully cooked. Very good selection of wines that the staff will advise you very well and at a very good value.
We definitly will go back again and cheery on the cake is that it's located near a very nice place called santa Brigida.
