Reviews on Japanese food in Sotogrande, San Roque, Andalucia. Sotogrande is the largest privately owned residential development in Andalusia. Originally a gated community, it is located in the municipality of San Roque, Cádiz, Spain, southern Europe and is composed of a 20 square kilometres (8 sq mi) stretch from the Mediterranean Sea 25 km east of Gibraltar, back into the foothills of Sierra Almenara, providing contrasting views of sea, hills, cork forests and green fairways, including the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco.

Gourmet restaurant specializing in tapas, hot and cold breakfasts, traditional food, sushi, fresh fish and prime meats.
Casa Moncayo is a simple, basic restaurant/coffee bar in Pueblo Nuevo. Not particularly trendy or smart, but it is our go-to place for breakfast. They do excellent eggs and bacon, also really good scrambled eggs with toasted country bread. Naturally they do the tomato and toast breakfast which is very tasty. The coffee is always good. Prices are much lower than on the marina in Sotogrande and it's much more Spanish, there never appear to be many English people there. Service can be a bit slow (not unusual in Spain!), there only ever appears to be one waiter on duty. He does always provide service with a smile! We've had the occasional lunch here, nothing exciting but fine for a quick meal.

This restaurant is actually located in pueblo nuevo de Guadiaro, Sotogrnde, not San Roque. It is a great alternative when you want something different to tapas. The sushi is v good (esp butterfish and all the toros). The different rolls are great and there are some authentic japanese beer. Service is attentive. Only downside is the location, which is not great hidden behind Mara. I personally like it more than the one in San Roque. So if you want Japanese, this is a great alternative. They do takd away too.
