Reviews on Pizza food in Tarapoto, San Martin Region, Peru. Tarapoto is a commercial hub town in the San Martín Province of the San Martín Region or northern Peru. It is an hour by plane from Lima, in the high jungle plateau to the east of what is known as the selva baja (low jungle). Although Moyobamba is the capital of the region, Tarapoto is the region's largest city and is linked to the Upper Amazon and the historic city of Yurimaguas by a relatively well-maintained transandean highway, paved in 2008-9.

During our visit, we order pizza (mozzarella, tomato, spinach...) and and raviolis (filled with mozzarella, spinach and served with an unknown withe souce) both quite insipid, tasteless dishes. Food is edible, but taking into account that Peruvian cousin is good and renowned and the price of the dishes I cannot recommend to go there. Also the price are not much cheaper that in Lima. Those two dishes and two drinks (lemonade and sangria) cost us about 70-80 PEN. I also must say that drinks were quite good.

Nice little restaurant, a surprise, really, to find this in the neighborhood. They specialize in pizza, pasta, and grilled food. I have only had their pizza a couple of times, and have very much enjoyed it.The restaurant is open to the street, but since it is only open at night, and it is below street level, the noise is not too bad. It is a nicer decor than many neighborhood restaurants. The TV tends to dominate the room, though. Chairs are remarkably uncomfortable, for some reason. Pizza crust is a bit unusual in that it is a raised crust like a cracker, but the flavors and ingredients are good. I enjoyed the jungle varieties and tropical fruit varieties, like Hawaiian with ham, peaches and pineapple, or the smoked meats of the area.Service is ok, there is only one person taking orders and presenting food, but he is usually not too busy. They do not serve beer, but do make up Sangria and cocktails.

For me was a great Pizza with real local ingredients, great size and good atmosphere, but for unknown reasons... my friends hate it! By the way, the service could've been better.
