Vibrant and packed with Victorian mansions, Costa Rica's rowdy, bustling capital was built on the profits of the coffee trade and working "golden bean" plantations still surround the city. Try freshly roasted local beans at Mercado Central. For shinier gold, visit the Museo del Oro. Many renovated landmarks now house stylish hotels. Usually viewed as a hub, rather than a destination, nightlife is concentrated in Spanish village-inspired El Pueblo. Don't miss the elegant 1897 National Theater.

Almost two years ago, the Del Rey closed its famous doors due to non payment of taxes, incompetent management, and CV19 mandates. It was a sad day for all those of us who came to the Del Rey for companionship. However a recent trip to San Jose found the doors open, the yellow CERRADO tape on the doors and windows gone, and the hotel under new management. This includes the Del Mar restaurant across the street. Although at the time of my visit, the hotel was not accepting guests, a skeleton crew manned the Blue Marlin Bar and preparations were being made for a full opening the following week. Those of us who were frequent visitors can live again!

This is a very modern hotel by Costa Rican standards, the rooms and bathrooms are of a goof modern standard. If you have a room facing the street you will get some noise, but with earplugs it's okay, without earplugs you might want to ask for a room towards the back of the building. The location is excellent and staff are friendly and professional. Breakfast is at the adjoining cafe and you have plenty of choice from a traditional Costa Rican breakfast to cereal and toast. Overall a good modern option in the heart of San Jose.

Hostel Club is a small and cozy run by family Hostel in San Jose. Very close to downtown San Jose, Sabana Park, National Stadium and Escazu. On the way to the airport. Big cozy rooms with big closets Multiple common areas including: 50' HD TV with Play Station 4 and surround system, ping pong table, big yard with a mango tree.
It is located 5 mins walking from Estadio Nacional. It is like a Rooming House with a shared Kitchen and a beautiful Garden area. We stayed at Room #1 which had a Smart Tv (Netflix/ YouTube), 1 big bathroom, 1 king bed and Desktop Table + Ergonomic Chair for business. Wifi worked perfectly all the time. Nice place. Thanks!
