1 Matrimonial Bed for standard room with free breakfast for 2, hot & cold shower, aircon room, wifi internet and cable TV. 2 Matrimonial Beds for family room for 4 persons with free breakfast for TWO (2) only, hot & cold shower, aircon room, wifi internet and cable TV.
It was near restaurants, pharmacies, groceries and other stores. Amenities are pretty much straightforward. The staff are friendly and catered to our needs. There's not much variety for breakfast but it's enough if you're not picky.

The best part of my stay was the staff: always friendly, very available to help in any way. Receptionist, GLISA, deserves special recognition. The next best part was the breakfasts: each of my 3 mornings I enjoyed a freshly cooked meal including fresh fruit. On the down side: The air conditioner in my first room started making terrible noise. I mentioned this to the front desk and they sent a young man immediately. But the noise stopped just before he arrived. I ended up staying in that room through the night, but the aircon woke me up a few times during the night. Glisa transferred me to a new room for my 2nd and 3rd nights. It was larger and quieter. But now there was no hot water! The first thing I noticed in the room was a 2-person hot tub. But no hot water came out. And the jets for the tub never worked. The next morning, I wanted a shower, and still no hot water. I will go back when I am in the area again. But I hope they fix the little things. My impression was/is that it just needs some TLC--Tender Loving Care

My wife and I have stayed in the Standard Room of GV Hotel in Catarman, Northern Samar Province every summer over the past several years, usually, 3 nights per stay. The price had risen to 825 Philippine Pesos per night, about $17USD during our most recent stay. Payment is cash only but guests need only pay 1 day at a time. There is a 200 peso room card deposit refunded upon checkout. The room card is needed for electricity, so the room will heat up during vacant periods of a few hours (however, we found our Makati Shangri-La room card would work in the electricity slot). The rooms are minimal: almost like camping out with air conditioning. One double bed with a couple feet of space around bottom and one side. Two tiny bars of soap, a couple fresh towels and a roll of toilet paper each day if you ask for them. There is no hot water and no shower, one ladles water from bucket of cold water; this is refreshing. “Running” water in sink was more accurately termed “trickling” water. This visit we had problem the entire day with toilet that won’t flush. After several rescues with a plunger, Manager Roy suggested we do not put toilet paper into the commode; soiled TP goes into trash basket. Even that did not work, and we finally gave up and left plunger in BR so we could unplug it ourselves. They did offer to change rooms on the 2nd day but we elected to tough it out. Be careful on the stair case: poorly lighted, steep and the pitch is almost 1 foot per step; results in a nice workout for the buns if your room is on the 3rd or 4th floors— no elevators— but a fall would ruin a visit.

Birmingham Allen is located at the coastal town of Allen, Northern Samar, Philippines. It is accessible by plane from Manila to Catarman, Samar via PAL Express. The resort is a 5 bedroom modern deluxe resort with swimming pool and jacuzzi and with direct access to the sea at the back of the resort. It has a magnificent view of the San Bernardino strait between Sorsogon and Samar.
I understand this is probably the best and most luxurious hotel in Allen (Northern Samar) which may make it a 4 - 5 star Filipino hotel but it would average a 2 -3 Star in Australian standards. I did find the cost excessive - 3,200 peso a night (about $100AUD) in the Filipino contexts. We stayed for 3 nights. Our room was brilliant - overlooking the ocean, very spacious and bright. A few interesting features - the room key / lock was a bike chain around the door handles. The shower had a constant run of water into a bucket. I actually found this very distressing with the waste of water given that so many Filipinos have to go to a communal well to cart water back to their village homes. The wash basin came away from the wall meaning that the water simply ran down the back of the basin onto the floor. The bed was uncomfortable and the room was not serviced at all during our stay. The positives - the meals were great and the food very tasty and well prepared. It did take some time for the meals to come but the kitchen staff and hostess explained this - they were doing everything and locals came in for meals as well. The restaurant area was lovely - outside facing the ocean. All staff were pleasant and helpful. The handyman was working constantly (but major repair work needs to happen). The pool area was beautiful and the sunsets divine. The area was safe for tourists. Wi Fi available downstairs at the restaurant area. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel but found the room problems very concerning.

Stayed in this hotel in June 11-16, 2021, the reception was prompt enough to attend our basic needs... As a traveller I always consider cost and would like to be fair that this hotel provided some level of comfort an that is the basic reason why I always stay in this hotel everytime I visit my parents as compared to other pricey hotels in Borongan.

I was not expecting such an excellent hotel based on the location of Borongan. I was surprised of its modern design and features. Primea hotel is about 3 years old, but it still feels new. So you know, management takes care of the property. The deluxe room I got was spacious, with comfortable bed, fluffy pillows and covers. The A/C works. The bathroom is also modern and roomy. No foul smell like other provincial accommodations. Shower dispenses hot water. You order breakfast the night before. The bangus is fine. Avoid the tapa. They serve good brewed coffee. My only gripe is the free wifi does not extend to the room. Other than that, this hotel is an excellent place to stay when in Borongan. The price is very reasonable.

So pleased that we chose to stay at Binang and Cadio instead of a hotel in Catarman. A wonderful oasis of calm surrounded by natural beauty. The charming Mai Mai looked after our every need and made our stay extra special. A large room with air-conditioning, bathroom, restaurant, bar, library and a large swimming pool. A great choice of breakfast and evening meals all cooked to perfection. All within a stones throw of the beach. Our two week stay ended all too quickly and we were very sad to leave. We highly recommend Bing and Cadio and will definitely be back. Rod and Gloria.

I can’t confirm the good reviews. It’s maybe also the best stay Catarman. The room was acceptable clean, the shower warm but the water pressure makes it hard to get wet. Linen and towel was acceptable clean. The parking is protected but I am not sure if it is really safe. The receptionist is mostly gone. The WiFi works slow . Actually there are building constructions in progress which causing noise from the early morning . I don’t recommend but I also don’t recommend Catarman

The van I traveled in from Borongan City comes in to the city directly past this hotel so I was able to be dropped off right in front. A bonus. I stayed in a single room which was small but it had a wardrobe, long bench, chair and good lighting. The aircon and TV worked well. The restaurant has an extensive menu but many items were unavailable. Service can be indifferent but this is commonplace around Samar. Lived up to my expectations of being one of the better choices here.

Our friendly and hospitable personnel are willing to assist you in your need and concerns, ensuring your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Nothing compares to its relaxing and quite location as the pensionne is located in a non-commercial area.
We were disappointed. After reading the great reviews we were met with holes in the sheets, a grossly filthy rug, broken shower and an indifferent attitude. The linen and towels smelled clean and fresh. The floor was freshly swept and the yard was kept up. We had planned on staying multiple nights, but chose to move on.
