To be honest it was not my intent to visit this restaurant but the other restaurants were closed. Which was strange. I'm not the fan of mainstream mexican cuisine in finnish style. But in these circumstances I gave this cantina a break.
The waitress came instantly to serve me. She was very friendly all the time but still I found it weird that the first thing she said if she could serve me some beer because it was such a sunny day. Well, it wasn't a sunny day and it was Sunday afternoon. Anyway, I made my orders: Rolls with Antonio's Shrimps (see photo).
While waiting for the rolls, I had some salad (buffet) as appetizer (free with meal). Not very special and not to my liking. They mixed meat and chicken with salad. Not a genial choice because this is a clear message to vegetarians to go away.
The rolls came in no time, the portion was huge and looked really nice. There was a lot of different vegetables inside the rolls with shrimps and even the salsa was really fresh and tasted very great. I liked my meal very much!
I'm very happy that I had to visit this restaurant :)

There's many restaurants and cafés en route between Turku and Helsinki, but Design Hill is one of the better ones as it's more than just a café. The café is situated inside this big shop selling all kinds of Finnish design, everything from Marimekko to whatever you may need visiting a Finnish Sauna. The café is just in the middle of the shop and they serve excellent coffee, pastries, cakes, sallads and lunch. The prices are mid-range, but everything is very fresh as the place is well known amongst locals and a lot of people stop by to comby shopping and eating.

When I arrived in Salo, I was told that the Salon Seurahuone was the best restaurant in the town. Given that this is a very small town, I was not convinced that this was all that significant an achievement. How wrong I was !
Everything here was of a very high standard. The welcome, the food, the beer (we didn't have any wine), even the local bread and butter. I had locally shot pheasant, which is not something I would normally go for, and it was sumptuous. Cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious, and served with excellent local vegetables. My friend had the pike perch, which looked every bit as good.
The decor is simple but clean, luminous and attractive, and the service was irreproachable. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable and high class experience.

Make sure you arrive hungry (I would skip the porridge for breakfast) - the brunch is enormous....non-alcohol fizz with good fruit selection and yoghurt is followed by a feast of flavours on a single plate (fish, cheese, meat, salad). The scones are perfect with the raspberry jam and if you still have room there is chocolate cake and cream with coffee...phew ! The live music provided by our friend Pia's group 'Wicked Suspenders' again was a perfect complement to the brunch.

NO MORE PLATE ENVY.
Splizza is a pizza with two halves that complement each other perfectly –
two worlds sweetly joined on a plate in the oven.
On our menu, you will find 10 Splizzas created by top chefs. Splizza combines
opposite tastes from around the world in a unique way. If you wish, you can also choose
a delicious Zalad for one half of your Splizza – or create your own personalized
pizza with our delicious fresh toppings!
The genius behind having two halves is that it frees you from the desire to dig
your fork into the plates of those dining with you.
Very nice idea to give the option of spitting a pizza in two and having different toppings on each side. You can also substitute one side with a salad. I had 1/2 Texas ranch and 1/2 Little Italy and both were very good, but I especially like the texas ranch. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly. Kind of a scandinavian look and feel to the place. Price was in line with the quality. I will definately visit again!

This is more or less a pub for taking couple of beers or drinks, I would not consider any meals here. Positive side of this place is that they try to arrange live music. If you are pool player they have a table and some regular players there.

This the restaurant next to Hotel Rikala and located in the center of Salo. Rikala is the old historical and also commercial area hundreds of years ago in the Salo area. Bar & Grill has many specialities from the Salo neighbourhood i.e. local food portions. It also serves as a night restaurant for having drinks and dinner with friends. Part of the co-operative SSO belonging to S-group.

There are many things on the menu, but we went here for the pizzas. The pizza menu was not the most usual one, but had some interesting combinations for us to choose from. Pizzas turned out to be rich, with lots of cheese and tasty sauce. Prices reasonable and worth the quality. Takeout proved to be possible as well. Would try again!
