Salcombe is a popular resort town in the South Hams district of Devon, south west England. The town is close to the mouth of the Kingsbridge Estuary, mostly built on the steep west side of the estuary. It lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The town's extensive waterfront and the naturally sheltered harbour formed by the estuary gave rise to its success as a boat and shipbuilding and sailing port and, in modern times, tourism especially in the form of pleasure sailing and yachting. The town is also home to a traditional shellfish fishing industry. The town is part of the electoral ward of Salcombe and Malborough, for which the 2011 census recorded a total population of 3,353.

Big buckets of prawns, juicy steaks, fish dishes and breakfast buffets, ice creams, teas, coffees and even our own brand of locally brewed beer, the Winking Prawn’s style of shabby chic beach restaurant and cafe has been enjoying life at North Sands in Salcombe for more than 20 years. Sandy toes and salty paws are welcome come rain or shine for breakfast, lunch and dinner (but don’t forget to book in the evenings and keep an eye out for seasonal opening times). In the summer we also have a barbecue in the garden to enjoy as the sun goes down, and our dressing up box is legendary for bringing out your inner pirate, mermaid or fairy princess no matter how old you are. Opening times are seasonal, please take a look at our website for more information.
Been before just for a hot drink.
This time as it was cold popped in for a cream tea as it was cold.
On the plus side it’s dog friendly and In a great place. Unfortunately didn’t think much of the food.

Waterside brasserie serving seafood, shellfish and war country beef with a fusion twist!
Fairly quiet night at the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Decor modern and nice ambience. The service was friendly and efficient. A good and well priced selection of wines on the menu gave us plenty of choice by the glass.
The food was well prepared, cooked and presented. A starter of tempura prawns and local squid was excellent and complemented by pesto and peanut sauces. Our main courses were both delicious. One was a perfectly cooked rib eye steak and the other a very tasty creative monk fish and prawn aloo gobi.
Overall an excellent meal. We will be back.

A nautical restaurant with stunning sea views awaits you. You can even dine on the sun Terrace should the weather hold. The sunsets are the best in the world and enjoying a pre dinner drink on the Terrace whilst the chef is hard at work - you can simply relax + unwind. Varied menu and daily specials. Dietary requirements can be catered for.
On the last evening of our holiday in Hope Cove it was raining heavily and we took the easy option of the nearest restaurant at the Sun Bay Hotel. This was despite having an average experience last year. It was a great decision ,a Gary Rhodes trained chef,a great waiter (Nuno) and very reasonable prices. The food was absolutely superb and the best of our holiday. This restaurant deserves to be on the visit list of anybody within 25 miles. The table next to us had come from Sidmouth and were driving back that night and they agreed.

The Victoria Inn has been run by Tim & Liz Hore since 2008. We pride ourselves on being a 'Traditional Pub, with Traditional Values'. It has this year (2014) been awarded the Taste of the West Gold Award - awarded for locality of produce used, ambiance and high standards of service. We are the only pub in the South Hams to hold this prestigious award. National finalists In Licensee of the Year, finalists in Devon Life Family Friendly Dining Establishment as well as previous Fish & Chip award finalists. We welcome children with their own menu selection of home cooked food and dogs with their own Al a Bark menu! Bookings to eat with us are advised as we get extremely busy and hate to disappoint customers.
This is one of the very few places in Salcombe that offers vegan options. I had a delicious pasta dish with walnut pesto. The starters were yummy too.
The service was exceptional - all of the staff were super friendly and really looked after us and our dogs - they were showered with fuss. There's even a doggy menu. Our dogs lapped up the doggy beer... literally!
I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely go again when next in Salcombe.
My only wish would be to offer a vegan dessert which wasn't sorbet... everything else - spot on.

Had an afternoon shopping and a few early evening drinks and stumbled across this little gem of a restaurant. The food was amazing! Great service, great menu and really felt looked after by the staff. Scallops for starters were so incredibly tender, and the cod main course I had has left me wanting to google "how do I cook cod so it remains so incredibly tender and melt in the mouth". Can't wait to go back. Thankyou for a lovely evening!

This is very much a family pizza place that offers other delights such as carbonara, however the pizzas are light and flavoursome. The service is quick and good value for money. Be warned you do have to que no bookings, so either get there early or as our kids are used to eating late, go around 7.30 We were naughty sent them to que whilst we had a drink. Risky

So doesn’t look much from the outside looking in. It’s the food and service that makes this place. Always seems to attract a large crowd, even out of season.
Two coffees 10/10. Bacon and egg for my husband and a sausage and egg for me. Doorstep bread and great quality produce 10/10.
Beware though coffee is more than Bristol £2.60 for a large latte.

Arrived on Friday with a warm welcome from the manager , who kindly swapped our room to one with a bath instead of a shower.
Room was cosy with a good sea view. Food was perfect. Plenty of choice and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also good using all local produce, all staff friendly and accommodating especially Elliot and Chloe.
I would recommend this lovely pub to anyone, oh another excellent point - dog friendly and the rooms are immaculate, see you next time .

Pub with rooms serving fresh local food both inside and out, excellent hand made pizza, particularly busy during the summer months
We had a fabulous weekend at the Fortescue in the freezing cold weather, family room was really warm, cosy and comfortable, breakfast superb and evening food too, staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive, we usually stay at the Salcombe Harbour but without question will be back to the Fortesque on our future trips to Salcombe.
Thank you to you all for making us so welcome.

Sand Pebbles restaurant was a great find. On the menu besides fish and chips and all the normal food choices are their home reared beef steaks. A good sized portion served with chips, mushrooms, peas, battered onion rings. Absolutely Delicious! Reasonably priced too.
The bar area looks dated in need of refurbishing but the restaurant is modern and well decorated.
Well worth a visit !
