By far, the best meal we ate while in all of Guadeloupe. From start to finish, our tastebuds were rewarded. We started with Rillettes de poissons caraïbes maison à la moutarde à l'ancienne and Emincé de chatrou, huile d'olive, ail et persil. I took the waiter's recommendation and ordered the Tataki de thazard,émulsion au wasabi, which was cooked to perfection, slightly tartare, and the wasabi was like mousse. TO top it off, the dessert is something I will never forget: Soufflé glacé au rhum et raisins. I will dream of that dessert forever more. Do make Reservations if you'd like to sit next to the sea.

The parking lot was full when we arrived at the beautiful La Plage de la Perle and we were directed to an overflow area behind the building. After walking down the beach and perusing the various options, we chose La Paillote and we are delighted we did. It was obvious there were lots of regulars, who jumped up to help the staff clear tables, bring placemats, and deliver wine. Big tables of friends who knew each other.
What really bonded everyone there was that a couple going to the beach blocked the access point to the back parking area. When people tried to drive out, they got stuck in the sand so the men (many of whom looked like accomplished professionals and businessmen) would jump up and push them out. One very well-dressed (for the beach) gentleman placed the restaurant's sign in the alternate parking spot and stopped people from parking there so the group could push out the next car that wanted to leave. It was a very funny scene.
The timing for lunch was quite leisurely but as it was a beautiful spot and we had the aforementioned entertainment, we didn't mind. The ubiquitous accras were delicious but the highlight was the grilled redfish which was superb (crispy skin and moist flesh). It was served over court bullion and topped with chopped vegetables with a side of red beans and rice plus white rice. Delicious and expertly prepared. We finished with ice cream.
We stuck around the beach, went swimming in the lovely cove, and were able to retrieve our car after the offending parkers left. (By that time the parking support team had also left the restaurant for the beach). Overall, a wonderful experience all around.

Lunch for 5 persons. The fish was very good. It was not crowded. The service was fast n efficient. This place was recommended to us by a friend from Sainte Rose. Pretty satisfied overall. About £30 per person with rum n wine. The host offered us a free final round of drinks. Very kind indeed!

The main part of the restaurant is covered and surrounded by screening plants - which makes the one good thing about this restaurant (its location and view) hard to enjoy.
The service is, in our experience, phenomenally slow. And I really mean phenomenally - I think it took over an hour to get a soft drink. The food is also very slow, but perhaps that was in its favour - when it arrived, I was so hungry that I thought I would eat anything. Sadly, even my hunger had its limits as the food was really not very good at all - or, at least, not to my taste or that of my colleague.
I see no reason to ever return here.

Great place for lunch. Always nice food and friendly service. Fresh fish with nice garnishes are their specialty. Ti.punch is great.

I ate here several times with my wife over a week and recommend the following every time: carpaccio of marlin (EUR 15), all pizzas - ask for bien cuit (well done) - marlin steak, spicy shrimp. The word is consistent! ask for spicy sauce with all dishes.

Chicken Colombo and poisson grille both very good. Good lunch to have before taking a 1:15 pm boat tour as you'll be out there for five hours.

I stopped here for lunch by chance after a morning on the beautiful Grande Anse beach. The Terrace sits right on the lagoon amidst lush tropical vegetation, and the view is stunning. The staff and owner were very friendly and I went for the tasty fish rillettes, and creole smoked chicken (Poulet boucané) for a main, all washed down with the best planter's punch I've ever tasted. This has become a regular haunt for me - it's family friendly, welcoming and a home from home.

The red fish is the symbol of this home and the name of the gastronomic restaurant of Tendacayou but also of Guadeloupe. Sylvie, mistress of the house as well as being a cordon-bleu, created 13 years ago this restaurant who has become along the years THE reference in gastromic cooking. Her credo : simplicity, numerous flavours, freshness Her success : Knowledge and creativity Her tools : Combining fresh, local, seasonal and very often biological products to her large range of revisited classic cooking. Handing over, little by little her kitchen to young talents she has now given the lead to the new chef !
Go here! Even just the drive is a bit of adventure. Follow the red fish signs from the hill just outside Deshaies heading toward St. Rose. You go up the mountain and keep going. Try to arrive before sunset to catch a glimpse of the...MoreThank you for sharing your time at our table. Looking forward to welcoming you again
