Forget about the generic, awful chain hotels with all the "right" amenities, and go for this one. It is from a different era; it has a different vibe; it's just wonderful, and it's absolutely affordable. The proprietor is not grumpy but awkwardly polite; the place is grand and totally overdone, and it's irreplaceable. Travelling alone, I had a beautiful tiny room with a single bed and a bathroom across the hall, all of which was just delightful. Instead of opening my laptop for my nightly fix of streamed TV, I was inspired by the surroundings to read the New York Review of Books. The power of atmosphere!

If turning on the heat and watching flies come crawling out of every where in the room is your thing then you'll love this place.. It's not our thing, we stayed about 20-40 minutes and left. We were still charged for a 2 night stay... Great way to treat a senior Vet.
