My wife, daughter and I were staying at Kura Hulanda resort in Westpunt that supposedly was "all inclusive". The food was pretty much the same, day after day so we needed a break.
Thank God, Jaanchies was just a short walk away. The waiter was helpful and even made great recommendations. I could be that we were starved for real food, but everything was fabulous. We even tried the Iguana.
Really, the crawling lizards!
All of us left happy and full. I highly recommend Jaanchie's.

Sol Food is a small casual place where we (David and Sunshine) serve lunch and dinner on our deck. We live downstairs and have a 3 bedroom vacation rental upstairs, Sunshine Getaway. Westpunt is at the far west end of the island and is quite small. Our home is on the Weg Naar Playa Kalki about a half mile before you get to the Lodge Kura Hulanda. To find us, take the road across from Jaanchie's restaurant and a left between the cemetery and ball field. If you any trouble finding us, ask anyone where we live.We are a part of our community and the island. David has a mountain bike club for the boys in town, the Westpunt Riders Boys Mountain Bike Club and I am involved with the American Women's Club and a few other organizations around Curacao. We do not have the luxury of American wholesalers or grocery stores and I shop every Thursday with fingers crossed that I'll be able to find all that we need for Sol Food. We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday noon to 9PM, Reservations are recommended. There are only 9 tables and it is hard to accommodate any group larger than 8 guests. The Lodge has a banquet room. Besides the Lodge and Jaanchies, you can eat at Misje or Rancho Sobrino here in town. Our menu is simple; pizza, salads and/or tuna, shrimp, tilapia, snapper, steak, chicken, hot dogs or hamburgers from the grill. We hire the boys from the bike club and a couple of local women. We are not a high end restaurant nor do we wish to be one. Many of the boys have worked for us 3 or 4 years and returning guests have been able to see how they have progressed not only in life but with their language and social skills. We find that those who chose to stay in Westpunt are laid back and casual, most of them are snorkelers, divers or mountain bikers. Many have become friends and we all enjoy seeing each other when they return. If you are staying in Westpunt or Lagun, Sol Food is a great place to meet with old or new friends and have something to eat. But really folks, it's just simple American food. If you are staying in Santa Barbara, Jan Theil or Jan Sofat, it is over an hour drive one way. We highly recommend that you do take the drive to see the Beaches and National Parks. If you have time, come by for lunch or an early dinner and drive back during the daylight. We are 45 minutes from Lions Dive, Sunscape and the Royal Sea Aquarium and 35 minutes from the Renaissance, Hilton and Marriott. There is such a variety of great places to eat all over Curacao. We hope you enjoy your stay.
Sunshine and David are New England transplants to Curaçao. They have a wonderfully scenic dining spot overlooking Playa Grandi, serving fantastic fresh food, with friendly island service. My only complaint is they are only open Friday-Sunday! Their tables are usually packed in the evening. Unless you call ahead to reserve, it is unlikely you will get in for dinner during high season. Nothing fried on the menu. Wonderful grilled fish, chicken, and steak. Nice dinner salads, and surprisingly good pIzza for the Caribbean!

Landhuis Misje is an open-air restaurant with informal Seating surrounded by a Caribbean garden. The menu features typical Curacao dishes, prepared with a Jamaican/American flair, at a reasonable price.
A long drive on a rainy, windy night. Outdoor dining on the patio was a little difficult with wind blowing the rain inwards. Unusual weather apparently. The staff went to all extremes to get us comfortable. The food was excellent. Pumpkin pancake that came with dinner was very tasty. The curry chicken was delish , but the Keshi Jena outdid everything. ( chicken & raison stuffing in a cheese casing..yum! )

My wife's lunch was fine but 2 of us got burgers. They were terrible. Maybe other food is okay. But, nearby Blue View Sunset Terrace is much better so why come here? Nicely decorated interior. Wait staff not very good. Slow even though only one other table with guests.

I must say, I'm shocked at the poor reviews. We happened upon this place while looking for the "famous" cliff jumping spot. Turns out, the jumping spot was at the restaurant. We decided to eat lunch, before the 2 jumpers jumped. We were greeted promptly and seated outside. Beautiful view. We ordered drinks, received them right away, then ordered lunch. 6 of the 7 of us had cheeseburgers. The other had a hamburger. We all agreed that the burgers were delicious, as were the french fries. During the whole time we were there, the waitress would continue to stop by and we had nice conversation with her. As far as price, I'm shocked that people think this place is expensive. We were staying at the Lion's Dive Resort where every restautant within walking distance was expensive. This was our least expensive meal all week.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday: 5 pm - 9 pm. Every second Saturday of the month a Theme Night. Following day closed. Reservations strongly recommended. Please, no Reservations through e-mail after 3 pm.
The African Peanut Soup with Bananas is one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. Wow! We all ordered it the second time we went to this restaurant. The service is good but operates a little on island time, no fast! The food is fresh, well worth the price and sitting outside at night is just an added bonus! They clearly prefer Reservations, but they are not required. We did make one for our second visit.
The fresh fish selection (usually sea bass) and the curries are amazing. No one (even those who didn't order the fish or curries) didn't love their dinners.
Not overly expensive and they have alcohol as well.

Restaurant Landhuis klein Santa Martha is situated in a renovated former plantation house. The restaurant (and boutique hotel) is situated on a hilltop with stunning views over the Santa Martha bay. The restaurant is open 7 days a week in main season for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A mix of Krioyo (local) and international breakfast
I have been looking for good restaurants int he westpunt area. I have tried quite a few. This one is by far the best: Really good quality food! And well presented. The place has a relaxed atmosphere, great view, pleasant service. All very good.
two tiny points for improvements:
1. when they offered their free amuse, I mentioned my wife did not eat fish, it would have been nice to offer her some alternative (but the waiter didnt pick that up).
2. The background music is very noninspiring western bar music. Some nice latin music would be great

We found this attractive restaurant on the beach during lunch and were hoping for a good experience. It was not to be. Even though the two waiters were very nice, they did not know how to wait tables. Sure, it was busy. Sure, it is an island and we expect island time service, but this was incompetent. No one greeted diners, so everyone sat where they found tables. In most restaurants where diners pick tables, the wait staff is trained to look for new faces and approach quickly with menus, so we didn't think much of this. We took a table overlooking the beach. Twenty minutes later after trying to catch the waiters' eyes, and waving at them (one actually waved back, but didn't come over), and another table pointing out to one server that we had not been waited on, we were about to leave. We noticed several other tables trying to get the waiters' attention. Hubby decided we must be doing something wrong, and as he saw others grabbing menus from the waiter station, he went up and did the same. Turns out, that wasn't normal as we saw the waiters bringing menus to diners who had sat down after us. After perusing the pretty ordinary menu, a waiter showed up and wanted to know if we wanted drinks. We took the opportunity to order food and drinks. By now we had been in the restaurant for almost an hour. About 20 minutes later our drinks arrived, and 30 minutes after that, our food arrived. We had ordered the Dutch platter, which sounded interesting, but what was on our plate did not match the amount of items that the menu described. We didn't care. We ate the fried food, wishing we had gone somewhere else. While we waited, we watched other diners desperately trying to catch the waiters for service. One couple who was seated after us, but received menus quickly and had orders taken substantially before us, sat while our food arrived. Eventually their food arrived, but it was when we were almost done. Another woman who was sitting behind us grabbed the waiter while he was near and asked where their food was as they had ordered shortly after us, and now we were almost done eating. He was surprised to hear they had already ordered (he took their order earlier), and went off to the kitchen to find out what was happening. No food arrived for them until we were leaving, so our guess is he forgot to place their order. There was no pattern in the tables the waiters served, and clearly they were understaffed. After lunch we began trying to attract our waiter to our table (he never checked on us once during our meal) for the check. After almost 30 minutes of waiting and waving, hubby finally got his attention and said we'd like our check. Twenty minutes later, he came back with the check. This was a terrible dining experience in a beautiful location. We would rather bring a picnic lunch for the beach than go through this again. This restaurant is a part of the Kura Hulanda Lodge and Beach Club, so we certainly expected better. This was way beyond island time operating, which we are all for. Our afternoon was wasted here, and that is not the purpose of island time.

What better place to have the island drink with a view. The barkeep was very friendly with a lot of positive energy. Good place to see the jumpers across the way at Playa Forti. Parking was okay but I can see how it could get very tight there.
