Bismi Curry House is opposite (the only) McDonalds in Sandakan, only 5 minutes from the airport, in a very upmarket area of town (IJM). It is DEFINITELY worth tracking it down. It is a small, very simple, local-style restaurant with a few tables inside and outside. You choose the curry you want from a servery, and they plate it and bring it to you. The curries are absolutely the BEST I've tasted. And their freshly made-to-order roti canai is wonderful. The maximum price on their board is 8RM! What a bargain! Ate lunch here with my kids on our way to the airport and it was better than any curry we've had before.
Welcoming restaurant with air con section and a great buffet to choose from with a selection of fried chicken, mutton, chicken and prawn curries, basmati rice, green beans and veges. Cannot go past the roti chenai or the murtabak at 6 Ringit with dipping sauces, simply delicious. An amazing 140 Ringit for 7 of us plus two taxi drivers -

Habeeb Curry House was so delicious, my partner and I went back 4 times throughout our 2 day stay in Sandakan. It's not that we didn't like any other food, in fact, we love all kinds of food, Habeeb was just THAT GOOD. They give you a very healthy serving of rice to start and you can either choose from their buffet or from the menu. The restaurant is always busy, which to me, is a great sign!
We had roti and murtabuk at this ristoran and they were superb.I lived in India for a while and the food at Zakaria was as good as anything I had there.Friendly young cook and female servers. If you like roti - go!
Sabah, Malaysia Food Guide: 10 Asian food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Sandakan
As a visitor to Malaysia and Sandakan, it would have been nice to be greeted by friendly staff but no, that didn't happen. They spent their time chatting and it felt like they were avoiding taking our order. The food looked like it had been reheated over and over and definitely not fresh. There is so few food options along this strip that this restaurant could be a go to instead of a stay away. Cheap but you don't even get what you pay for,

Wanted to try something different so went to this local haunt behind the Four Points. Delicious food at remarkably low prices. All sorts of roti and the egg-plant (aubergine) was absolutely delicious. The salads were large and tasty. The curries were really really tasty. Try the fish curry and the chicken curry, though basic, was rwally tasty. We will return.
