Gute einfache Unterkunft. Der Gastgeber und die Haushälterin sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer sind einfach aber sehr sauber und ruhig. Im Zimmer gibt es eine Dusche. Die Toilette ist auf dem Flur.

Had high hopes for this place as it looked so lovely. The service was slow, the food took ages to be served and was just ok. Beautiful surroundings though!! It certainly looks the part.

I'm usually skeptical about hotel restaurants, but this was a definitely above-average experience. We were staying in the hotel on our way through the area, and decided not to bother driving back into Schwemlingen or Merzig proper for dinner. So the hotel restaurant it was! The interior portion is quite small, with a small bar area and tables for maybe 12-16 people total, but once the weather gets nice they seem to open a big outdoor area with a ton of additional tables. Everything was super well maintained, and the decor was classic but with some cute touches like the gnome-sized table centerpieces. While the menu itself isn't super long, there was enough variety, and whet we had (and saw on other tables) was excellent. The bunter salatteller wit gebratener putenbrust (colorful salad with turkey breast) was a substantial salad; like a good German mixed salad, it had not just lettuce but also sauerkraut, red cabbage slaw, shredded carrot slaw, and other assorted toppings. Throw in a healthy portion of good turkey breast and you have a real meal. If you want to eat less healthy, the schweinemedallions mit champignons in rahmsauce (pork tenderloin with mushroom gravy) is another good choice. The pork was well cooked and flavorful, and the gravy wasn't overwhelming. On top of all that, the service was quite friendly. While the menu was only in German, the waiter offered to translate anything that we couldn't read, and he made some recommendations for things to do in the area. All in all a surprisingly good choice, and if we're in the area again we would definitely stay and eat here again!

This modern craft brew house (with a long tradition) is located in a beautiful and tall industrial space close to the Merzig Yacht club and harbor. The beer garden is just lovely when the weather permits. The "Saarfuerst" beer which comes in varieties "Hell", "Rot" and "Dark" tastes very good. Service is friendly and fast (sometimes overworked when the beer garden is busy). The food could use a little TLC, the spear ribs were under-cooked and the Wiener Schnitzel (from Pork) lacked flavor and was carelessly plated. Still a very recommended venue, because of the building, beer and location.

We were escorted to the back garden, and pick our seats. The waitress then proceeded in asking us what we would like to have to drink as we looked over the menu. We started out this hot July evening with a Aperol Spritz, enjoying the atmosphere of sitting in the back garden of the restaurant. The menu offer a variety of dishes : Fish, Beef, Pork, Chicken as well as the Menu of the day.As we reviewed the menu I had the Lacsschnitte Hummer (Salmon ) and my wife the Hauptgang Menu consisting of fish.Since we were both having fish we decided on a liter of Auxerrois Blanc , a white wine that is a sibling of a Chardonnay. Fresh and refreshing, as it rolled over the pallets of the tongue. The salmon was cooked to perfection with a tasteful lobster sauce. The accompaniments were a baked potato with sour cream and chives (my choice) and a garden salad with a delightful vinaigrette dressing. My wife’s meal consisted of a fillet fish, topped with a cream sauce with chives, a baked potato and a blend of mixed sautéed vegetables. We enjoyed a lovely meal here; the food was well prepared and tasty. The portions sizes were good. Felt very welcome in this local restaurant, excellent service and friendly staff.
