They are doing everything right here. Location, service, food, originality, details, price /quality ratio. Good wine recommendations too. I was so impressed. These are people who take their work seriously. They deserved to get the Michelin star and I will definately go again.

Zum Pferchtal

Stopped here at the recommendation of another place in the village - close to the main road - which was not serving lunch anymore (it was around 2pm already). Located next to a tennis court, and normally would probably not have found this nor stopped here. Nice, full plates of food (my wife had an excellent shrimp salad & I had a nicely prepared farmer steak (Bauernsteak). Only - as is more often difficult in Germany - the still water, was not very still... Friendly service. If I would be in the area again, would certainly stop by for some food!

Beim Patric

Because we were staying just outside of Blieskastel, we checked the Tripadvisor Blieskastel restaurant reviews and chose Beim Patrik. This is a rather small restaurant with perhaps 40 inside seats. There is, however, also a "Bier Garten" outside. I was delighted to discover three vegetarian options on their menu, as well as a number of others without red meat. Our attitude was made even more positive by the delightful, very friendly and very helpful woman serving us, who spoke English wonderfully, which made everything much easier for us. My husband started with a "small" salad, which was beautiful, even containing red and blue edible flowers! He then had their lasagne special, which he said was VERY good! He reported that the ground meat in it was so coarsely ground that it was almost as though the meat had been cut into small pieces, which he found both unusual and delightful. I took no first course, and chose the salad with turkey for my meal. The waitress assured me that this would be large enough for a full meal, and when it came, I immediately realized that it was TOO large for me to finish, even without a first course or dessert: there were SIX large pieces of turkey schnitzel on a mountain of delicate lettuces, plus a few of the lovely edible flowers that had been on my husband's salad. My only objection would be that it had too much salad dressing on it for my taste, but I know that most other people prefer more than I do. (I must learn to ask for salad dressing on the side!) Our meals were so large - neither of us could come close to finishing them, and we were not certain whether one could ask for "doggy bags" in Germany, and thus did not ask. But our delightful waitress offered to box up the food that we hadn't eaten, and since we were staying in a place that had a kitchen, we very happily took her up on this offer. The portions had been so large, that we each had enough left for an additional meal, which also was delicious! For Dessert, my husband took warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It arrived looking like a work of art, with 2 raspberries, sliced plum, 2 immense blueberries, a slice of kiwi, a slice of ripe fig, sliced almonds, and a pretty ground cherry. Surrounding this was creme anglaise, with raspberry coulis tracking a design of hearts and flowers. The cake was so beautiful and so delicious that my husband was startled and disappointed that the vanilla ice cream was "nothing special". But our entire experience at Beim Patrik HAD been something special!
