I booked The Ore Inn because of its location and, admittedly, the industrial decor. Both were better than expected actually, but there were a lot of downsides to the hotel we only discovered after arrival... First the good: the location was even better than expected, it's literally at the end (the quiet end) of the Jiufen old street. This means I was able to get up at 5:30 to easily take pre-dawn pictures of the empty street, and the "teahouse" staircase with NO PEOPLE on it - amazing. Ironically, it did take us a while to find the place, but that's more to our lack of research and weird google maps instructions. We ended up climbing a long staircase with our big luggage rather than just taking old street from the busstop... (We found out the proper way thanks to a handy map provided by the staff. They also listed all prime photo spots for sunset etc) The industrial decor was very well done, thoughtful and detailed, and fitting with the location as the hotel is close to an old mining museum (which nobody seems to visit). I really have to give the hotel credit for the look they achieved, especially in that narrow spot, renovations must have been difficult. Getting to the downsides now... Continuing this industrial trend, our room was "underground". The Ore Inn itself (across the street from the reception building) is built into a cliff. So we had to take (our luggage down) a steel staircase to get to our room. At first I was happy we only had to go down one floor, but we did hear all other guests thumping down the industrial staircase and pass our door. That wasn't the only noise though, the plumbing was extremely loud! When both our neighbours got back late in the evening and took a shower, it was like they were all doing this right next to our bed. Which brings me to the bathroom facilities. Interestingly, one had to walk through the shower unit to get to the toilet - where the window was located. Two pairs of rubber slippers were provided so we could still use the toilet after we'd showered, but it was a little bit awkward. The dehumidifier was on non-stop and worked fine though. Neither one of us slept very well that night (also the reason why I was actually up taking pictures at 5:30 - silver lining!). The bed was softer and more narrow than we were used to in Taiwan. Breakfast was served across the street that morning. It was a set menu, and not bad at all. We were also offered refills. The breakfast room has a nice view across the bay. In the little hallway of our annex there was water, tea and coffee available 24/7. After a quick check-out we rolled our way out through old street and on to the bus stop. My advise:Do not bring (big) luggage! This is a great hotel if you're young/fit, happy to stay up late, and an easy sleeper. If you're a bit more fussy (like me), you may want to reconsider.

The main reason why I chose to stay at this B&B even though there are many other much cheaper options in the Jiufen area is because through my research, I found out that this B&B is is just by the main road. Having been to Jiufen on a day trip before I know that many B&Bs there require you to navigate narrow alleyways and climb many flights of stairs because Jiufen old street is not a place accessible via car. But because I would be lugging a big and heavy luggage with me, I had to choose a location that was accessible by car, which led me to Sunshine B&B, because my driver could stop right at its doorstep. What came as a huge bonuses was, the service, the cleanliness and the view. Service: - The staff there were very helpful, assisting me with my huge luggage, carrying it up to the 3rd floor where i was staying. - The official time for breakfast is 8am to 10am. I once only came out of my room after 10:30am and the staff asked me if i wanted breakfast as they had set aside one serving for me (point to note: Their breakfast is not a buffet. Its a non-optional set. The one breakfast I had there consisted of a 4 fruit platter, waffles, one tea egg, and one sandwich. Unfortunately I didn't bring my phone down for breakfast so no photos.) Cleanliness: - This took me by a huge surprise. I couldn't switch the television on using the controller so I reached around the television to find a switch. I expected a dusty reception from the television as most b&bs do, but there was none. No dust. So curious as I was, I went around the room touching other surfaces to see if I could find dust, even the top of the mirror. Couldn't find a dusty surface. Truely one of the cleanest B&Bs I've ever stayed in. - They require you to take off your shoes and put on rubber slippers indoors. I like that aspect because its part of my culture to do so. But if you're uncomfortable with this, then I suggest you skip this place. View: - I paid a little extra for the sea view and it did not disappoint. I love the slight fog looming over the mountains in the morning and the sparkly lights lining by the sea at night. One con though, is that the place is definitely not handicap friendly. No elevators, and even the toilet requires you to take a high step up, although, the same can be said for most other B&Bs in Jiufen. All in all, excellent stay!

Me and my friends spent a night at this lovely B&B in the end of April 2015. It was not easy to get in touch with the host (retired) teacher Li (李老师) to book this place especially from overseas. However, teacher Li was kind enough to accept our booking without any advance payment. At night teacher Li will be hosting meet-up for his guests. I have had a wonderful night meeting other guests and getting to know more about them.

Jiufen, Good Time B&B is a new B&B in a great location with a convenient public transit system. You could go to Jiufen old streets by walk in 5 minutes. We try to offer the best service possible to make your stay in Taiwan an unforgettable one.Every room has a beautiful view of Mt. Jilong and the Pacific ocean. When the weather allows, the sunsets over the ocean are absolutely breathtaking.
This place is an easy walk to Old Street. It has amazing views of the ocean, mountain, and town below. The rooms were very large with plenty of space. It was clean and the staff was friendly. Our only complaint is that the bed was typical of most beds in Asia and extremely hard. If you are only here for a night or like hard mattresses then it isn't a problem, but we couldn't have done more than one night. We would recommend the b&b to others but would definitely warn them about the bed.

The room has a nice view of the sea with a balcony. You can sit and relax to enjoy yourself. Room is spacious and cosy, clean and neat. The room has coffee sachet and bottled water. Towels and basic amenities are also provided. Tv has many channels so you won’t be bored. The boss is very friendly also. Breakfast is taken at the reception area and they serve sandwich with egg and coffee. We hired a taxi on a day trip to jiufen, so we don’t have to worry about the public transport. You can walk up to jiufen from this Mingsu but it will be climbing stairs up of at least 10-15 mins. We walk up about 30 steps of stairs and take a taxi up to jiufen main entrance which cost about 70 TWD. Then we walked down the stairs to reach the mingsu via Shuqi Road exit at the top of Jiufen. I would recommend to stay here next time if I visit.

We enjoyed your hostel very much? Room was very comfortable , clean and I can feel private. I really like all furniture! All staffs are very friendly. We also enjoyed night tour they provide and getting to know the culture and history. So I highly recommend this hostel when you visit Journey! Hostel is not far from bus stop .

This b&b is a family owned and run establishment. As such they go through great lengths to ensure that guests are well taken care of. They provided good advise on how to plan our itinerary and showed us how to move around using public transport. The room was comfortable and cosy with an incredible view. Sleep quality was excellent. On both days they served us authentic and delicious Taiwanese breakfast of congee with full spread of condiments. They were also very generous with the free shuttle to the bus stop nearby. Even though the nearest bus stop is only less than 10 mins walk. Excellent location to explore the Jinguashi Gold Ecological Park as it’s just around the corner. There are also mountain hiking trails nearby which we never got around to try out. It was a great stay.

I visited Jiufen, Taiwan, with my partner, my bestfriend and her husband last Feb 2020. Many people have told us to really spend the night at Jiufen to appreciate the beauty of the place in the daytime and then at night. Heeding their advice, we had no regrets! The inn was situated at the start of Jiufen old street. Although getting there was a bit tricky, since our driver couldn't get in old street and we walked a good 3min in the brick laden street, when we got there, we were blown away with just how beautiful our inn was. It was not hard to find the inn, since it was smack right down the entrance of Jiufen Old Street, just a little bit after the 7-11. There were no elevators in the inn, and we had several luggages with us, and we were at the 3rd floor. But, when we saw our rooms, our smiles were from ear to ear. It was just so lovely! The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful! We are avid coffee drinkers and just our luck, the inn also had a quaint coffee shop called, The Golden Cafe. They gave us a coupon for Buy1, Take1 coffee when we checked in, and we immediately ordered our drinks after freshing up. We were served breakfast too, and it was one of the best ones I had in Taiwan. If given a chance to come back to Jiufen, I would still be booking Chiu Chunt Dint Inn again. Thank you for the lovely accommodations!

Japanese style B&B
Rooms were the traditional japanese style with wood\paper sliding doors, tatami mats but with raised beds. Nice common area, and breakfast is in a building just next door to the hotel, food and views from breakfast were amazing. My only complaint was that the rooms need a little updating. Some moldy smelling bedding in the closet, bedspreads should have been replaced a long time ago. Other than that, everything was top notch and quiet.
