Well having arrived at our pod we ventured out for food and came across the Hargreaves arms. A warm welcoming coal fire very quiant and surprising quite busy fir a week day. They do breakfast at weekend and during summer but not whilst we here however the food was unreasonably priced and delicious couldnt ask for more there is an early bird £5.00 menu and food served from 17.00 till 20.00. Well worth a vist xx

As in my previous review the food and food service were excellent.....but.....it almost seems they don't want paying. Over 20 minutes from asking for the bill to actually paying for the food. I think the management really ought to sort this out - it is totally unacceptable.Hello Hassy049Thank you for your feedback.Your concerns about the our payment system are deeply disturbing to hear, after your previous review we did some work to try to improve the system and ensure it is a efficient as possible. It appears from your feedback that this has not resolved the issue. We are very sorry that this is still the case.I would be very keen to talk with you and hear first hand the difficulties you experienced to enable us to focus on this issue, if you could call me on 01282421705 or email some contact details to [email protected] I can contact you.I am pleased to note that once again the food is excellent but appreciate that the payment issues somewhat cloud the overall experience.RegardsPatrick O'ReillyGeneral Manager

Team McNeeney are now in their sixth successful year at The Oxford, sporting a range of cask ales and fabulous wines alongside a dedicated gin & tonic menu. Their cheese & onion pie is famous & Tomâs chilli has grown a cult following, but whatever your ta
Had the chilli. Very nice. Slight smokey flavour from the brisket. Came with little cups of cheese, jalepenos and v nice sour cream to add as much or as little as required. No problem with me having half rice half chips.Staff and delivery , second nature, no awkwardness and confidence in delivery. Slick and quick. Its family run , they have seen it all probably over decades and it shows. Table service for drinks not too much trouble and attentive. The menu looks interesting and traditional, with just enough modern aspects to make it up to date for the youngsters. You can tell they think things through here with good old fashioned common sense.Everywhere clean , plenty of parking. Busy between 5-8 on a Tuesday night says it all.Price wise, 11 for the chilli is fine. Sure a bit pricey for what it is, but hardly an expensive place to eat in comparison to gastro pubs.Well done. Ill be back when in area working and will be my default place to eat while staying in a local hotel.

Informal Gastro Style Pub & Restaurant serving fresh food from a contemporary menu in the borough of Bury & Rossendale. Serving premier wines, spirits and beers as well as Real Cask ales. Modern and contemporary interior for a relaxed dinning experience.
We went to this lovely resteraunt on a whim the other day and found it changed from pub grub into a real gem. The food was superb and the atmosphere charming. I had a steak which was melt in the mouth and my partner had the fish and chips with a pea puree he enjoyed every mouthful. The sweets were equally marvellous. I would certainly have no hesitation of recommending this lovely resteraunt.Hi J8152KHmichaelsWe are absolutely thrilled to hear that your chance visit turned into a memorable experience, thank you for taking the time to leave us a sterling review! We have recently recruited a new kitchen team, so it's wonderful to hear that they are succeeding in putting their stamp on our fantastic food offering and it's being enjoyed by all our guests. A beautiful, newly refurbished family friendly public house, offering hearty homemade food. We have a large car park and outside seating. Well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area.
This is a relatively large public house offering a variety of beers, wines & spirits.Living the opposite side of town, my wife and and I would be best described as occasional visitors, and we are always made to feel very welcome. Not always busy weekdays so ideal for a quiet drink. The meals we have sampled have always been tasty and well proportioned. Have been here for a group Christmas meal and really enjoyed the festive experience.Thank you for your detailed and fair review, it's always a pleasure to see regular faces in the pub and always good to know that you enjoy your visits.

Not part of a chain, not heritage themed, no false ageing. This is a proper pub, like they used to be, serving a limited range of decent beers and unpretentious proper food. Generous portions, cooked fresh, sensible prices and friendly people. Excellent! I'll definitely be back. Just hope it doesn't change.

I visited The Crown after seeing a couple of good reviews on TA , and I would like to start this one by thanking those reviewers for pointing me in the direction of the Crown. I was aware before I visited that this was a village pub which served meals and did not therefore expect subtle lighting, chintz and ambient music! What you get is a wood panelled main bar with tables of various sizes set around the room, the feeling is of warmth, there is a real fire in the grate, and age. Menus are placed on the tables and ordering is done at the bar, though the food is brought to you at table. The menu is quite extensive with starters, mains and desserts, but also a good range of light bites and snacks are on offer. As it was a Sunday I chose the soup (cream of mushroom and asparagus), the roast lamb dinner and finished with ginger sponge and custard. The soup was served in a china soup bowl, in the shape of a small tureen, and was accompanied by a warm bread roll and a pat of butter. I would note here that the butter was at room temperature and easily spreadable and not (as in many places) served straight from the fridge necessitating hacking it into small pieces or trying to soften it using the warmed soup spoon! This is a big plus point in my opinion. The soup itself was excellent. The roast lamb dinner turned out to be a full lamb shank beautifully cooked in a light gravy, (a gravy boat was also supplied), accompanied by seasonal vegetables , two types of potatoes; mash and roast , and two small Yorkshire puddings, mint sauce was also provided. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the whole was everything I had hoped for when i ordered it. Finally the dessert, ginger sponge and custard, but also with a ginger sauce , was the perfect end to an outstanding meal. Simple, well cooked, served at the right speed (this is NOT fast food) . All in all a great experience, I will most certainly be going back. In conclusion.... If you want "posh" this isn't for you, BUT if you want great food,a wide ranging menu, lovely staff and a price that won't make you wince, then there can't be many better than the Crown
