A large group of us joined together for a season Kick-Off Party at Fred's. We had reserved one of the two private meeting rooms. And, the staff provided us with lots of pizza, salad, bread sticks and a couple pasta dishes. They also took orders for the bar and brought them back to our tables. We had a great time.

Every pound I gained this summer I owe to this place! I don't know which is larger...their menu board or their serving sizes! They seem to offer every flavor of Michigan-made Hudsonville ice cream, and a wide array of scrumptious sundaes. Its location just outside South Higgins Lake State Park makes it mightily convenient and wildly popular, especially on weekends when the campground's packed, so expect to wait in line. However, there's an assortment of cute, colorful lawn chairs to relax in while you savor your sweet treat!

This restaurant is fairly new to the area, however it is obvious from the quality of the food the owners has done this before.
They offer an array of different types of selections from donuts and pastries to sandwiches to pizza. Everything we have tried has been fabulous. The donuts are very very good. The turnovers are flaky and very flavorful. We have not tried the sandwiches yet but they look great. The pizza is great. Wonderful flavor and many topping to choose from. Then to complete the experience the staff is friendly and knowledgable.
If you are anywhere near Higgins Lake, Roscommon or Houghton Lake please stop in and give them a try. You will make this one of your regular stops just like we have.

What Day is it? Well, if it's Friday, it's another drive to Matt's in Roscommon for a great fish dinner. They offer Cod and Blue Gill. The dinner includes salad and soup bar. The food is delicious and the service is great! One thing that I like is the waitresses frequently take time to talk with you. During this visit we discovered that one of our neighbors was there too. We invited him to join us at our table. My suggestion is to plan on arriving around 5pm on those busy nights. On street parking and an adjacent parking lot adjacent to the restaurant.

Great, casual spot for sandwiches, soups, and I think they have salads, too. I've enjoyed their breakfast burrito (all day) and chicken salad on croissant sandwiches. (Probably my favorite.) Good muffins and pastries, and a variety of breads, etc. One is always on sale, My favorite is the English Muffin Bread -- it makes great egg-in-a-holes!!!!

Ate with a group of 14, and they were very accommodating with my request. I eat a vegan diet, and they modified some of their salads to accommodate my needs. They brought me a dinner salad that was HUGE and only charged me $6. Our waitress really tried to make it work for me, and I appreciated that.

It's fun to find this little DQ adjacent to North Higgins Lake State Park. Good for a summer break - typical fare and pricing! FYI, they have a sign they don't accept DQ coupons?!? Most probably don't use them anyways while on vacation but just in case...

We were rained out camping. There were 10 adults and six children. Ordered 4 large pizzas and it fed the crew. Pizza was great don't to forget to ask about coupons on web site. It did save some money!

Our dining experience could not have been better. We were with another couple and had steaks, walleye and rainbow trout. All prepared to perfection. Our dinners were served hot and beautifully presented. Very generous portions as well. Their staff/wait persons are all so knowledgeable and just a great group of happy friendly people. Gorgeous facility.

Cute, little mom-and-pop style restaurant with traditional favorites on the menu. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. A great place to get breakfast. Have never stayed at the motel, but during hunting season it appears to be fully booked, especially on weekends, so I assume it's pretty decent. Roscommon has seen its share of hard times, and its downtown has too many empty storefronts, but this place has been here for forever, so you know they must be doing something right.
