Things to do in Flic En Flac
Breakfast excellent. Passed on lunch. Dinners largely bland and unexciting, To expand, the choice for breakfast was wide, catering for the range of nationalities, from eggs, to pancakes to curry and mostly cooked in front of you. Fresh bread, fresh juices, in fact just what you would expect from an hotel in the middle of Paradise in the Indian ocean. Dinner, however, disappointed and I found the selection limited compared with similar buffets on offer at neighbouring hotels. The theme was regularly changed but the food remained remarkably similar and rather than lingering over an extra glass of white wine, I tended to finish the meals I ate there quicker than I would normally and made my way across to the Aqua Bar for a glass or two of the local boutique rum, New Grove - when they had it in stock! On holiday for two weeks on my own, I would have liked to have been able to relax a little more and would have certainly enjoyed a wider selection. Staff, on the whole, excellent. Just what you expect in Mauritius.

With an airy terrace ensuring a pleasant outdoor dining experience. âThe Restaurant is popular with both locals and tourists, thanks to its authentic creole cuisine and tasty Mauritian/Reunion fusion dishes. Carri Massale offers good value for money, and
The setting is simple but elegant. Nicolas who served us was knowledgeable on local food and was able to explain the various styles of Mauritius cooking. We ordered Fish Vindaye, Rougaille Sausage and Chicken Curry. These were served with rice, black lentil sauce and because there were no pickles the chef prepared a fresh mango and carrot salad. Each dish was well prepared and packed full of its own unique flavour. It seems that the chef Max has extensive experience in local cuisine and also that of neighbouring islands.Overall we were very satisfied with the attentive service, tasty food and inexpensive bill at the end. Worth a try.

Nice and cosy place to catch up with friends! Lovely music and live band. But tends to be very windy and chilly during winter. Wear warm clothes during that period as its an open space.

typical local Kreol food
Wow!We were staying in Laraid & we were told of Mama Helenes restaurant @ home, where Sindhy produces amazing fixed priced evenings.Having no idea what to expect we were warmly greeted and offered a local rum with nibbles. All this was a precursor to the feast that followed! The food was superb & we asked that Sindhy herself join us as she was able to go through the recipes, My partner was in food heaven talking with someone else who has a passion for food!We will not be forgetting this event for a long time to come! In fact I canât wait for the opportunity of a revisit.Sindhy herself was an absolute joy and we learnt so much from her about the culture and the island of Mauritius. An absolute joy!I'm happy you liked the dinner and enjoyed the evening. I'm looking forward seeing both of you soon again!Sincere Sindhy

Le Bistro Morisyen is a family business which provides food of quality at affordable prices in a cosy and unique setting. We are located on the Coastal road of Flic en Flac after Clinique de L'Occident and beside the bakery.
My friends had been here a few times and loved this place and the food, so I went with them, we all had the burgers and there are excellent!, served with fries and salad. The family who own the bistro are really sweet and friendly.

We are the first & second generations Chinese born in Mauritius and our restaurant specialises predominantly in Chinese cuisine. Our menu is varied and includes some typical Mauritian dishes for those wanting something different but equally yummy.
Really nice Chinese food but be careful the portions tend to be massive especially the rice. Starters were also quite big. Very good value and good meal and service.

We were fortunate to get a table without a reservation when we decided to visit Rib & Reef, securing the only one available at the time. People arriving soon after us were turned away so reservations are recommended. We came especially for the seafood platter - and we weren't dissapointed. The platter was enough for two of us along with a side of fries. It consisted of crayfish, prawns, mussels and white fish . All fresh and very tasty, but unfortunately our fries didn't come out with the food. The restuarant was incredibly busy and service reflected the fact. It was still a very enjoyable meal and I also enjoyed one of the speciality cocktails.

We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of trip advisor review. We were not disappointed.....we went there again and again. We stayed at the Sofitel in Flic en Flac. We dined at the Hilton and at Sugar Beach as well as the Sofitel.However....we found the food at The Creole Shack the best value for money.Good home cooked food run by a mother and daughter. If you are looking for frills....this is not the place. If you are looking for food that the people of Mauritius eat daily....this is the place....great value for money. We will definitely be back.
