Located near the Kutsugata ferry terminal, Island Inn is the perfect option to stay on this side of the island. There's a direct ferry from Rebun Island. And it's the shortest way to climb the Mt. Rishiri. The hotel has all the amenities. Rooms are spacious compared to the usual standard in Japan. Breakfast and dinner are copious for those who choose the half-board option. Onsen is free. There's an observatory deck on the roof top. And the sea view is mesmerising. Renting a Bickford is a great way to visit the surroundings, which include a sea urchin farm.

Came to the island to hike Mt. Rishiri, stayed at this hotel. Staff very helpful and courteous, They provided a ride to trailhead at 5AM and prepared breakfast for me to take along on the hike. Also fluent in English. Great traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, but if you need your bacon-and-eggs or burger, I would ask before booking whether they can accommodate you. Many restaurants were closed when I visited in July 2020, possibly due to the pandemic, so eating at the hotel was almost the only option, and that was fine. Hotel is in walking distance from ferry terminal, car rental, scooter rental, and they have decent bicycles at the hotel, although limited in size, so if you are tall, I would not plan to cycle the 60 km around the island, it may get uncomfortable. Also within walking distance (3.5 km) from Mt Rishiri trailhead. The hills around the hotel, overlooking the see are hike-able to their summits and offer great views within a few minutes' walk. Overall a pleasant stay, I'm happy I booked this hotel.

Enjoy the beautiful sunset from hotel restaurant, common bath, and the patio. You cannot imagine the quality and the quantities of Sea Urchin (Uni in Japanese) dishes at dinner. Rishiri Sea Urchin is known for it's distinctive taste with creamy and hidden sweetness. Many people thinks it is one of the best one in the world. Buffet Breakfast includes all you can eat salmon caviar and seafood dishes. The best season to visit the hotel and Rishiri Island is from the end of June to the end of July. Climbing Mt. Rishiri Fuji is a popular activity for active tourist. Fresh Sea Urchin is only available from June to September. Contact the hotel in advance for transfer service from the airport and the pier. Hotel price include one person stay with Dinner and Breakfast.

I spent three nights in this hotel and loved everything it. The location is very good, close to the ferry terminal, shops and bars, the hiking trail on Mt Rishirifuji and an amazing bike lane. The room was exceptionally spacious, with a very comfortable bed and everything a hotel guest could possibly need. The room service was excellent. On the first floor is spa, with both indoor and outdoor bath. The reception staff was very helpful and professional. The best hotel, in this price range, I have stayed in Japan.

A decent ryokan style inn with private toilet and communal bath of decent size. A bit far from the port but close to nature attractions. Above average Japanese meals. Clean everywhere (typical in Japan). They conducts a star gazing trip every night, which was nice (hot chocolate is served.) The only thing is that the place feels like a school. For the price you pay, you would expect a bit more luxe than a school.

The hosts are very friendly and we used App to translate. Dinner is prepared delicately and is fabulous, with fresh uni one of the main highlights. Clean room and memorable stay, with bicycles free to use. Would come back again hopefully with another different season.
