Reviews on Balti food in Riga, Riga Region, Latvia. The Latvian capital, the largest city in the Baltics, is a fascinating mixture of proud Latvian tradition and influences of the various countries that have occupied it. Independent once again since 1991, Riga's Art Nouveau center has won it UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. Opened up to mass tourism with the advent of budget air travel, Riga's Old City and its abundance of bars and restaurants can be explored on foot. The New Town is easily reached by an efficient and modern bus and tram network.

Our cosy yet chic Dome Fish Restaurant has established its reputation with delicious fish cuisine. The fish we serve here is delivered mostly by small local fisheries and even fishermen themselves. Thus, once a week there's a special delivery from PÄvilos
By chance the restaurant was very close to our hotel. We were celebrating a major anniversary and were happy to splash out. Champagne, wine, oysters, halibut, desserts, tea etc etc. We ate on the roof terrace on a very warm evening. Service was charming and efficient and we were made to feel at home. The food was really very good, as was the champagne and the wine. We highly recommend the Dome.

Authentic dishes from Baltics. Two nations are meeting under one roof asking you to explore what is traditional, unbeatable and real.
Upon entering Milda your ears will start listening to relaxing piano and saxophone music in the background. The ambience is very clean and kept rather modern. The waiters are friendly and professional - automatically offering you the menu in English when you greet them with a hello. The menu mostly offers traditional Latvian dishes as well as some Latvian beers. The prices are quite fair and the portion of my traditional potato dish was rather large and satisfying. We received an appetizer - bread with chicken liver pâté - for free. Milda is worth a visit if you're interested in local cuisine and a relaxing atmosphere while eating.

PROVINCE is a nice place, where to get to know the traditional Latvian cuisine.
A small intimate restaurant situated in the beautiful Old Riga, this one is not to be missed.Unlike some of the touristy places, this place serves delicious Latvian cuisine at very reasonable prices. The stroganoff and soup were both lovely and those little dumplings! Yum!!The service was great and nothing was too much trouble. They were kind enough to keep our reservation even though we were late.Thank you for the experience

"Salve" - a restaurant that represents Riga city cuisine There's no better way to express the uniqueness of the people, its habits and tastes than through national cuisine. Restaurant Salve offers a taste of traditional Latvian cuisine in an elegant city
We were looking for an authentic Baltic restaurant and I found this prior to our trip on TripAdvisor. Our group of 4 fancied Lido's but we had a look inside and chose Salve instead. And that was a good decision. Having checked their menu before I went for the Latvian Tasting Menu with 6 courses for 28 â¬. It contained Lightly Salted Baltic Herring with Potatoes and Cottage Cheese; Grey Peas with Smoked Bacon; Homemade Sausage with Beef & Pork with Stewed Cabbage and Baked Potatoes; Rye Bread Dessert with Whipped Cream and Cow berry Sauce; Coffee; Riga Black Balsam. Fantastic. The Herring and the Sausages were my favourite. All others on the table were happy with their dishes too. The Service from our waiter was outstanding. He was funny, attentive, knew about the different dishes, told us a bit of history. Excellent. It is a bit more pricey and there are indeed a lot of tourists and tourist groups. But, the food is excellent, the ambience is nice, staff is friendly. What else do you need? Definitely give this restaurant a try.
