After working in health care for past 2.5 years and being vaccinated and boostered x2 we decided to travel. We stayed at Verde Mar and Spa in Ribera Grande The hotel was lovely ,the room overlooked the ocean with a small balcony. The pools inside and out were clean and all areas were well maintained . Unfortunately we both became positive for Covid the day before we were leaving to go home. The hotel manager along with all the staff could not have been nicer to us . We had to quarantine for five days and Caterina ,the hotel manager sent breakfast daily to our room along with fruits and even a picnic basket so we could sit outside and eat. Every staff member was thoughtful and kind. Caterina even helped explain what we had to do and where to go for official testing. I hope no one has to go through this but ..... the people at this hotel could not have been nicer or more accommodating

We truly enjoyed our stay. The room was very spacious, well equipped and nicely furnished. The staff was extremely helpful and always friendly. We also loved the location! Restaurants, shopping and the beach are in walking distance. The pool and pool area are beautiful and a great way to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. We used a taxi for getting around the island and it was always a fair price and easy to get one. We will definitely come back!

While we drove around the island we were looking for a hotel near Ribeira Grande. We first stoped on the surf house on the edge of the street, unfortunately they only had shared rooms left. So next we knocked on the door of Areal de Santa Barbara Guest House and were directly greeted by the houskeeping staff. We usualy do not stay at Hotels with shared bathrooms but decided to stay there for a night anyways. We werent disappointed! There are only about 4 rooms in each house and also 2 bathrooms so its still quite private. The next morning we decided to stay for two more night and we would alsways go back there again. The rooms are very big and clean, the bathrooms were cleaned each morning and there is also a big livingroom, a kitchen and a backyard with a grill

Vila Laura was built in 1929, being of the same family. It has 7 double rooms and one of the rooms with private bathroom. Usually guests can use the kitchen, laundry, garden, bicycles at no extra charge. We can still pick it up and take it to the airport. We accept reservations of rooms with breakfast included in each room. we have rooms that can have a couple with a child. For reservations for more than one room, please inquire.
Very generous hosting by Emanuel, helped us when our flight was cancelled and picked us up from air port, providing us with every thing we needed - car, laundry, room with worm-supportive-positive-nice attitude Emanuel also gave us a lot of information about local trials, shops and recommended places to visit Thank you Emanuel for making us feel at HOME

Maia Guesthouse was home to the photographer Laudalino Pacheco and his family of five. Always ahead of his time, Laudalino designed the house to have 7 bedrooms to accomodate family, friends, hitchhikers, tourists and anyone in need of a place to rest. In his loving memory, Laudalino's heirs have founded Maia Guesthouse business under the same premiss that the house itself was founded on: to be a resting ground to anyone in need of one. As a guest to this house, you are also a guest to this family.
Well located, very comfortable rooms and facilities, nice terrace outside, friendly staff - this is a very good choice for a base to explore the whole island. There are supeemarkets and restauranta nearby.
