Pretty good arepas in Providence area. When I went in, the place was empty, decided to get take out. Must say the arepas themselves are quite thin compared to the ones I've had previously but good quantity of stuffing. Got shredded beef, pork and chicken arepas, probably liked them in that order as well. Good experience overall if not for the price, paid 23$ for 3 arepas (they charge you 1$ extra for cheese and avocado; make sure you clarify when they ask you everything in it).

We came down from Boston and had dinner here before Riverfire on a Saturday night. We started with a selection of a dozen local oysters that turned out to be a selection of one type of local oyster because (I assume) they ran out of some oysters. The oysters were fresh but had none of their liquor in the shell, which is off-putting and just sloppy shucking. The meat and cheese plate had some tasty chorizo, Serrano ham, a few small slices of two different cheeses and oddly, fried plantain strips and a few rock-hard bread slices so hard I could barely chew them. We used most of them in the roasted shrimp in garlic and pepper sauce which was tasty but had only five small shrimps. Meatballs in a smokey sauce were again tasty but I found the BBQ like sauce a little strange in a Latin-inspired tapa dish. The beer selection is good and the cocktails are well made. All in all, Red Fin wasn't bad. the bill for three beers, a cocktail and four tapas came to $133 pre tax and tip so Red Fin ain't cheap. The back room was crowded and really noisy and we were relived to be in the front room at the bar. As you can tell, I was not blown away by Red Fin. I've had tapas at places like Toro in Boston and Red Fin is simply not in that class of tapas bar. I think I would be giving Red Fin a bit more slack if the bill were not so large given the level of execution of the dishes.

We went to La Casona, looking for something different for dinner. It's an attractive place and it has a nice bakery attached to it with a lot of yummy-looking offerings (we were full so didn't try anything there). Husband ordered the Plato Montenero, which included two thin slices of steak, very tasty, and a chorizo sausage, with salad, rice, beans and a few other accompaniments. He was happy with that. I ordered the Tequila Shrimp which the server suggested was very good. She was right! It was in a light cream sauce, very good. Shrimp cooked perfectly. Served with white rice and a little salad. Got a glass of wine and hubby got a beer, very reasonable. Lots of families and couples there, but we were seated right away on a Saturday night. Service was great, pleasant and warm. We'll be back!

The food was absolutely delicious when it arrived. For our appetizer we ordered the nachos, which took a bit too long and we considered sending them back if they were brought out too close to the main. We didn't send them back, which was probably a good idea because the dish was wonderful! However, too cold! Asked about that and were told that they were cold cause of the toppings (I think not!)The mains were great! We absolutely enjoyed everything, our party of 3. The portions were generous and could easily be shared, especially after the appetizers. Everything was fresh and delicious.I'm glad we went here, especially since this was not our original intention and we just kind of got lost and ended up here!
