..and every meal a delight. Charming service of delicious food in sensible portions and excellent value to boot. Dinner for two around â¬45. Chanterelle ragout, baked zander, neck of pork...carefully prepared by a chef who knows what's what. Well worth the 10 mile round trip each night from the Hotel Burgschanke where we are staying on the other side of the river.

we stumbled off the cable car and went in to get out of the rain... we enjoyed every wine on the 2 pages of local dry white... all really good. We had a cheese trio, which was interesting, maybe a but too much faff for my eye and the disappointing thing, for a grape region was the grapes. the opposite end to the bread that came with, which was nice. on summary, the wines iâd have again, the bland but fussy cheese plate i would not. the guys working there were interesting, seemed like they had a quarrel the evening we were there. on the whole, we would return.

We went to Winningen to check out the restaurants and parked close to Klein's Fronhof so we sat outside to have a drink. The two waiters were of a type, disinterested and surly. A cyclist who tried to leave his bike against the wall was severely chastised in no uncertain terms by mine host so he left without refreshment. Nothing wrong with the wine or coffee but the complete lack of hospitality was totally at odds with our experiences in Germany. The following evening we decided to try a meal there. Just after 8.00 pm I asked one of the waiters if we could have a table for two and was told no, the place was now closed. Now I'm sure he meant fully booked but he was brusque to the point of rudeness. We have another 4 days in the area and wont be returning. Fortunately the night before we had an excellent meal round the corner in Brunnenklause so we went back there to be greeted warmly and enjoyed another excellent meal.

Sat down here at 8pm on a Saturday evening. It was quite busy. It was difficult to get attention, you had to chase a waitress rather than them coming to you.Ordered drinks, starter and main course. Drinks came fairly quickly. Starter arrived at 8.30pm. Then we sat until 9.30pm with no food. We were sat next to a group of 4. The 1st diner had finished his meal before the 4th diner had got their food. At 9.30 I asked where the food was and I was told 'We only have a small kitchen'. I don't class myself as a business genius but the obvious answer is have less tables. Waitresses seem to be coming out with just one plate at a time.At 9.40 after waiting 1 hour 10 minutes for my meal, I paid for my drinks and left.Wild horses wouldn't drag me back there.

We spent a few hours here on a sunny Sunday afternoon - there is a beautiful secluded courtyard garden. The riesling is excellent. We were disappointed with food (we had ham and eggs which were a bit grim - the flame breads looked nicer though). My recommendation would be to spend a leisurely hour or so here sampling the wine (perhaps nibbling a little cheese) and then go on to the Dalyan Grill for a nice kebab and chips to mop it all up. Perfect Sunday evening.

New German and international cuisine in an historical ambiente. Great choice of wine, draught beers. Lunch stop for groups on request.
We had dinner; wiener schnitzel veal for me and instead of fries I had a beautiful large salad. My husband had the special tender beef cheaks with rosemary potatoes. He could not believe how tender the beef was, using only his fork! Wonderful service, wine, beer and meal. Highly recommend!
