We were a group of eight meeting up for an evening out, and it would be hard to beat the Syrtaki Restaurant in Treis-Karden for food, for ambience and for a great price.

Fairly authentic Greek fare. Generous portion sizes. Good value for money.The restaurant was busy early evening midweek. Most customers were tourists, from all over Europe. Service could have been faster, but there were only a couple of waiters for at least 50 covers, so they were busy.Maybe an odd choice, but there's only so many times you can have schnitzel.

We arrived at "Athen" after they had technically closed for the afternoon, but the proprietor welcomed us in, and we were able to order. Very nice atmosphere. Although I thought the prices were just a tick higher than I might expect given the location (Münstermaifeld is not a booming metropolis), the food was superb, and if we are ever in the Eltz area again, we would not hesitate at all to visit "Athen" again. A very good experience.
