Puthea, his wife Hia and their son were so lovely and accommodating. They took great pride in delivering the family experience for their guests and for us did so successfully. Their rooms were simple in a beautiful way and really cheap. They had bikes for rent which was really convenient for us to go around and see the lake and waterfalls. And they were cheep too. Puthea was really helpful and genuine with formation and he made it easy, affordable and stress free for us to get across the border to Laos with our two sons. In fact he messaged me the evening of the day we left to make sure we arrived safely. Definitely a place to stay, relax and enjoy Ban Lung in the Ratanakiri Province.

Our ambition is to provide the best service possible, heritage of hospitality of Cambodia, land of welcoming smiles.
Very inexpensive for what you get by way of decor amenities, view, wooden furniture, reception area etc. Clean. Quiet. Nice restaurant. Reasonable WIFI. View across a lake. Good service. One floor modern fit out another more authentic in fit-out. It’s about a kilometre walk to centre of town and market but we were ok with that.

You contemplate a visit to Cambodia but you want to stay off the beaten track ?Welcome to Terres Rouges Lodge. If you want your visit to be unforgettable, Terres Rouges Lodge is the place you are looking for. After long excursions, you will be able to dive in our pool, wander in our landscaped garden or rest in rooms that are superbly decorated. You will also find it pleasant to have a drink in our bar (‘the best bar in the middle of nowhere’ according to Time Magazine) and to dine in our fine restaurant.
I’ve always loved Red Dust, the slightly trashy 1932 MGM classic about the assorted characters whose lives entangle at an isolated Indochinese rubber plantation, their strong personalities clashing as rivalries and romances bubble to the surface. It’s a potent story made unforgettable by its dynamite cast, headed by Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and Mary Astor. And so, I was instantly sold on Terres Rouges Lodge in Banlung from pretty much the minute I learned of its existence. I know the estate was never exactly a plantation. But the former governor’s residence now converted into this enchanting boutique hotel promised a similarly atmospheric setting. And, with the town itself encircled by rubber trees, it seemed as close as I might ever get. Terres Rouges even translates as Red Earth—a name which immediately conjured up black and white flickers of the movie in my brain—and the hotel’s website forewarns, “During the dry season a thick cloud of red dust floats constantly above Banlung.” I arrived around 5am on the night bus from Phnom Penh, but thanks to the exceptional proprietress who knew I’d be coming, I had no trouble checking in at that ridiculous hour. And, as I explored the extensive property in the dawn light, I could tell that I had stumbled upon a very special place. From those first moments on, my experience at Terres Rouges was nothing short of magical. Every element was pitch perfect, even though the improbability of discovering such luxury in this sleepy corner of the world seems about as unlikely as it is delightful. The owners of Terres Rouges have created a veritable paradise, working hard to maintain the impression that French Indochina is alive and kicking. It’s an illusion you’ll want to believe as you stroll about the lush grounds, your secluded, leafy refuge far removed from the gritty roads of Banlung just beyond. The garden of colors presented by the budding trees is simply remarkable, from stately palms to flowering frangipanis. I must have spent a solid half hour happily wandering from one intriguing blossom to the next, admiring the hues and trying to capture their ephemeral beauty with my camera. Those frangipani petals have a beguiling habit of dropping into the cool waters of the nearby swimming pool, one of the most tranquil locales imaginable to while away a lazy afternoon. This is also the domain of the friendly Terres Rouges dogs, who seem thrilled to have you as a companion. Coupled with the helpful staff on hand to supply you with ice cold Angkor beer as necessary—served in a frosted glass, a marvellous touch—you may lose all motivation to venture any further than the hotel’s front gate. My room in the main house was utterly fantastic, all done up in painted woods with a huge, comfortable bed, elegant window treatments, charming antiques and intriguing vintage prints adorning the walls. And the bathroom was a far cry from the rain barrel Jean Harlow used back in 1932. In fact, I’d label it downright extravagant, in a rustic sort of way. The airy restaurant is a pleasant spot to enjoy a hearty breakfast each day. Its enviable position overlooking Kan Seng Lake made for a lovely start to the morning, complemented by fresh fruit, strong coffee and a wide selection of both Asian and Western dishes. But it’s at lunch and dinner when things are elevated to the sublime. The local fish cooked in Khmer spices wound up being perhaps the best thing I ate throughout my entire twelve-day adventure around Cambodia. And should I have the good fortune to return to Rattanakiri in the future, I wouldn’t be surprised if I wind up savoring most of my meals here. Make no mistake: Banlung is off the beaten path. It takes determination—and time—to get here. But once you’ve arrived, you can bask in colonial grandeur and dine like a prince at Terres Rouges. While doing so, you’ll be surrounded by splendors both natural and man-made. Gable and Harlow never had it so good. And, for all you know, they may be lounging in the very next bungalow.

We received a very warm welcome from the owner Sen and his lovely family. The lodge is located in a small village a bit outside the town of Banlung (5-10 minutes easy drive) and it is a charming and authentic place. The wooden bungalows we stayed in were simple, rustic but beautiful. The balcony is very pleasant. We stayed in a room with private bathroom and everything was clean. The breakfast was good, and it was so nice to meet and chat a bit with the neighborhood grannies! The owner can also drive you with his tuk tuk (a comfortable Cambodian style trailer) if you wish. He drives safely, he is very nice and flexible and since he speaks good English, communication is really easy! Highly recommend this place if you look for an authentic experience, worth every penny!

We arrived to Balung roundabout on a min van and the Guest house owner Mr Tommy spoke to a tuk tuk driver who gave us a free tuk tuk ride to the hotel on request from Mr Tommy. Mr Tommy runs the guest house with his wife. He is very friendly and provided us a lot of details on the various places to visit in Ratnakiri and how we can reach them, etc His wife is also very sweet and smiled at us whenver we met her. Mr Tommy arranged a day trip for us in a tuk tuk for $25 for a day where they took us to 3 falls and 1 lake. The tuk tuk driver was very nice and showed us all places and also gave us information regarding the various plantations around Ratnakiri. He showed us cashew/casavva and pepper farms on our way. For our lunch he took us to a indian restarurant and picked us back up to visit the lake after which he dropped us to the hotel Good value for money

Ratanakiri Paradise Hotel & Restaurant is an environmentally friendly, nature accommodation located in the beautiful area of Ratanakiri Province, just 3 km from the crystal clear crater lake Yeak Laom. The hotel has a restaurant, moto rental, massage, infinity swimming pool, and amazing view. We have 30 rooms (double rooms, twins, terrace - yoga rooms and family bungalows)
I have been struggling to understand why this place has received so many rave reviews. The service is very poor (a thirty minute wait for the waiter at the restaurant to even come over with a menu for breakfast, and another hour (!) before yhe waiter even bothered to pass my order. BEer cans and trash strewn everywhere in the morning, dirty tables, guests partying boisterously and blasting their music outside our room past midnight until we had to complain to management...the list goes on. And there is nothing spa-like or resort-like about this place. We could hear everything our neighbors were doing in the next room, whether it was coughing or having a simple conversation. Internet access is very spotty and sporadic, and cellular phone service is as well. There was often no electricity, there was no hot or warm water in the showers. A truly disappointing experience. I will say, though, that the grounds are quite beautiful. And there is a convenient pickup and drop-off service to and from Ban Lung proper.

I am blind in one eye and while staying at the Yeakloam hotel the staff were extraordinary with their patience and 100% care. They were all genuinely helpful and kept an eye on me as I tend to make mistakes. All this with humble gentleness. From the desk clerks to the wait staff. I could not ask for better service. The look on their faces when I rode up on a fully loaded touring bicycle was priceless. Very highly recommended. You won’t be disappointed.
