I'm really disappointed after Reading good reviews.
Service:
We were met by an arrogant waiter who asked if we had Reservations even though the restaurant were far from full. (Fyi: It still far from full when We left as well) despite there being allot of free and Bruce tables We were seated at the worst table , close to the entrance outside and the table were swarming with flies. The not so pleasant waiter came back fifteen minutes after throwing the menus on the table, taking our orders. Shortly afterwards he came back with a mug of wine, but no glasses. We were given a basket of bread which obviously came half-eaten from another table.. (Yuk). At this point the table were full of banana flies. We tried to address the problem to the waiter several times but were completely ignored. We took our things and moved it to a table inside after telling another waiter. No help were given so we carried our glasses ourselves.
Food:
We went for ham and melon for starter, which were ok. The ham could have been cut thinner. Ordered penne al arabiatta which were an insult to Italy's food scene. We've had a lot of tasty homemade pasta during our many visits to Italy. This was not one of them. The pasta was coming directly from a store bought box. There was hardly any sauce at all and the dish itself were really small. Made me miss store bought dolmio/ barilla pasta sauce. Actually the dish being small didn't matter since the pasta tasted crap.
Since no waiter were around to ask if the food was ok and no one came by we went to pay at the counter and left the food and the wine to the flies. Hope they enjoy it at least..
The restaurant:
Could really need a good cleaning. The wall next to our table were so dirty, it looked like there had been a bus load of kids eating spaghetti at the table before us. See photos..
Stay away..

We loved everything about this place from the well-put interior design to the quality food. The mixed starters were quite unusual for us but we enjoyed every single dish. The homemade "Pici" with black pork ragù were extremely good, and the beef muscle cooked with wine basically disappeared seconds after it touched the table! The desserts were outstanding too. A bit pricy as it's in a small town but still. Overall nice location, ok service and 10/10 food!

We had two pastas that were outstanding: gnocchi with truffle cream sauce and spaghetti with porcini mushrooms. They were fresh and perfectly made. We were less into the pizza, which was bland, and the salad. Our server recommended a terrific white wine to us at an excellent price. Overall, this was a delicious meal and a great value.

We had a really excellent meal here. The quality of the meat is very good; they are cooked on hot coals before a roaring fire. The side of potatoes is crisp and beautifully caramelized. The spinach side could have been picked an hour before it was so fresh. We were also stunned by the quality of the ricotta in the mousse dessert. Excellent local wine choices. Charming and kind service. All in all worth travelling to Asciano to visit this restaurant. Go!

Knowing a little Italian language will vastly enhance your visit to this very local restaurant. When we visited we were the only non Italians and although we were initially the subject of interested looks! the welcome was genuine. There is a small menu and dishes of the day which do not feature on the menu. The choices are shared verbally. The house wine was palatable. There was no white wine available although you could have Prosecco. We shared starters, mainly bruschetta and opted to have the days specials - wild boar or rabbit. The whole meal was very reasonably priced. In fact it makes you realise how much restaurant prices are hiked up in more well known centres for tourists. When back in this area we will return!

In the park of Villa of the Woods it has been realized a gazebo of 140 square meters equipped with braceria, plates and deep fryers. "Il Frantoio" intends to offer in braceria casual dining and fast, from Sandwich and a beer, a good cutting board with sliced Tuscan pecorino cheese, a mixed grill with a side dish. The proposal aims to free itself from the normal time of the classic catering to offer fast and without penalizing the quality, typical of Tuscan cuisine. The gazebo that can hold up to 100/120 persons lend, size and specifications, to accommodate a variety of events: family celebrations, christenings, communions, baptisms and marriages also rent by the structure of space and outbuildings, entrusting company setting up catering and food service. The park surrounding enriches and characterizes the convivial occasion allowing freedom and leisure for children who can play safely in a space completely natural.
middle of no-where, typical italian food. Manager barely speaks english nor french but tried (sometimes desperately) to explain his menu with hands, feets, gestures, etc..
VERY delicious food, the limon-sorbet was THE BEST ever eaten!
We went there with 2 other couples to celebrate our "secret" marriage in Toscany. Total price primi and secundi, sorbet, wine for all, prosecco and small apetizer was: 154eur ==>25eur for too much and delicious food.
We received 2 excellent grappas for tasting after our meal.
very limited outdoor Seating, indoor is big

We ate here five or six times during our stay at Laticastelli. The food was outstanding. We dine in London quite regularly, and the food here more than matched top class London restaurants, at a fraction of the cost. Make the most of it if you are nearby. We loved the squid starter, but also sampled the steak and pork fillet, both of which were exceptional. The Deserts are superb too. Service is excellent. Very classy. And the wine list was extensive. We could not review the restaurant without mentioning the view. Absolutely stunning. I could have sat there all day.

This was one of the best meals we've had in Tuscany (multiple trips) and undoubtedly the best value. Known to English speakers as 'the farmhouse', Ischieto is a classy farm to table restaurant with terrific food and great service. The owner was present when we visited and provided personal service as well.
Upon ordering, we received a flatbread amuse-bouche, warm and delicious. The antipasta and salads were fresh and light. Our pasta course was outstanding, a truffle ravioli that I am craving as I write this. My wife and I asked to split an order and when the server told us it came with 5 ravioli, I asked to give 3 to my wife and 2 to me. She returned and said we could have 3 each for an extra 2 Euro....so worth it! For seconds, we ordered two beef dishes and the lamb, all of which were prepared perfectly. To give you a sense of value, these outstanding entrees, with 2 sides included, were 14 to 19 Euro.
The wine list was priced incredibly well. We ordered a bottle of Tignanello, one of the best super Tuscans, for 55 Euro. The next night I saw it in Rome at a restaurant for 180 Euro and the best price I can find in the US for the same vintage is $89. The desserts were as good as the entrees, tiramisu and a chocolate mousse. We ordered digestivos, healthy pours for 3 Euro each. The owner saw how much we were enjoying the evening and brought us a complimentary second digestive.
In summary, 5 scrumptious courses, top notch wine and after two dinner drinks each for 56 Euro for a person. If we'd have known how good it was, especially for the price, we would have eaten there on consecutive nights!

We revisited after a gap of 10 years and found the same good quality that we were expecting. It is better quality than most basic Italian restaurants and there is a large garden area to eat in. Wine selection is good with good choice of wine by the glass.

On a recent September family trip to Tuscany, we had dinner here twice. Our party consisted of 6 adults and one 3 year old, and all of us were delighted with the food and service. With an extensive menu of classic and regionally accented Tuscan dishes, you could eat here many times and never be bored. Because of our youngest member, we dined early (6 p.m.) and mostly had the place to ourselves. The menu even featured wines from the Baldetti vineyard (also worth a visit). We also were charmed by our skilled waitress Fiore, mentioned in other reviews here. As has also been said, the view from the restaurant is spectacular. Note: Be sure you have a designated driver for your safe exit via the one-lane gravel road!
