A port city of about 30,000 on Italy’s Ligurian Coast, Rapallo lies on the Tigullio Gulf about 15 miles southeast of Genoa. The 16th-century Castello sul Mare (Castle-on-the-Sea) is Rapallo’s most prominent landmark, sitting as it does smack in the harbor. The sixth-century Basilica of Santi Gervasio e Protasio is also worth a visit. For a real treat, take the bus or the funivia (cable car) to the sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Montallegro (Our Lady of Montallegro), which offers stunning views.

U Giancu likes cooking while dancing with the seasons. 20 years ago U Giancu started COOKING TOGETHER - an experienced COOKING SCHOOL where FAUSTO and his son EMANUELE cook together with their guests hands on. Artichokes set the winter rhythm, leaving the stage to spring, made of violet-coloured asparagus. Then, according to the season and to what Diego can find in the fields, herbs and flowers of prebuggiun take over making up a huge and multicoloured salad or the perfect ravioli filling with a yummy but so delicate taste. A waltz with all the colours of the summer vegetables follows: big and mignon aubergines, courgettes with their orange flowers, long green beans, red and white pinto beans, spring onions, yellow celery, colourful peppers. During the hot season, U Giancu especially likes making pesto dance to dress fresh home made pasta or to accompany the classic Genoese minestrone, boosting its taste. In autumn, the warm colours of the woods become the perfect scenery to sprout mushrooms: porcini, finferli, tiny trumpets, columbine, steccherini. They all dance in U Giancu's cooking pan! Home made bread and focaccia are never missing on the table: even more delicious when served with tasty local cheeses. Beef, rabbit, pork, rooster, bison, lamb and veal (cooked in many different ways) complete the choreography. Just before the curtains fall...Apple cake, pear tarte, peach cake, crostata filled with home made fresh fruit jams. Cinnamon biscuits, pistachio or hazelnut biscuits: crunchy or soft. The creamy ice creams and the fresh fruit sorbets made by Emanuele complete the menu on a sweet note.
Whilst on a two week tour of the Tuscany, Liguria & Piedmont Regions, I was researching to find a Cookery Course.... Whilst staying in Santa Margherita, found a restaurant called U Giancu offering what is described as "Cooking together." I sent an email to enquire,...MoreDear NdFarmer01 thanks so much for enjoying our company, our kitchen and our food and wine. I also remember it as a very pleasant morning. My wife and I were fortunate enough to both visit Rapallo and eat at Rocco's. Both proved to be fabulous! Great service and an excellent meal. I think the waiting staff appreciated that they had a couple of people who had done joie de vivre about them- they fed of us and we feed off them. Everyone was a winner!

Le Cupole Restaurant is located on the top floor of the Grand Hotel Bristol in Rapallo Italy. Great food, unforgattable view, "money for value" place. We are on Alain Ducasse Carnet Gourmand.
Made a reservation ahead of travel based on reviews found on TA. This is a beautiful location but our experience started poorly soon after arriving when a server (seemed to be a manager level man) walked up to our table with pencil and notepad, and said "ready?" We'd had zero welcome, zero introduction to the menu, zero explanation of things like the fresh fish of the day, etc. Very disappointing when dishes are priced at 15-20E for primi and 25E+ for secondo. Food was average and some dishes tasted as if had been prepared well ahead of time and reheated. Not made to order. The wines by the glass were limited in selection and were of a single local label that appeared to be rebranded wines from another producer given the mix of varietals. Why a Chardonnay as one of 3 choices of whites by the glass? Don't know. This is Italy not California. Would not recommend this location for the price.

we had an excellent dinner here. The location and atmosphere is good. The food and the service was excellent. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. We asked the waiter about some of the choices and he suggested the special which was a fresh fish, he showed us the fresh fish so we chose that for two. They prepared it with potatoes and olives and brought it to the table where the waiter removed the bones carefully. It was delicious and then they gave us some limoncello to finish a wonderful meal!

Warm atmosphere, friendly, nice and familiar.... All these components make it a restaurant appropriate for couples, friends and families... The food is really very good, you can have dishes with fresh fish and other seasonal condiments. Every table can have bottle of fresh oliv oil directly made from them and fantastic bread and tipical Focaccia bread. Goog choise of wines, local and also coming from all parts of Italy. Located in the top of hill of Rapallo, have a really nice view of Rapallo and seaside. Good relationship between quality and price... Enjoy !!!
Day off : wednesday and close for holidays on November.

The Osteria Vecchio Mulino is located in an old stone water mill, on a little stream in the hills just outside Rapallo. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the Ligurian cuisine excellent, the prices moderate. Wonderful selection of entrées, great pasta dishes, excellent second courses. The house wine, produced by a great wine maker in Piedmont, is also very good. Since a lot of people appreciate this place, it's best to reserve in advance.

This place has a fabulous view!
We stopped in late afternoon to enjoy some wine and bruschetta with a beautiful view of the bay and castle; we ended up staying longer, as aperitivo started soon after. They have an extensive wine list and plenty of vegetarian options. We'll definitely return.

We were a party of 4 without a reservation. We were seated without hesitation upon arrival, shortly after 9pm. Surely you must have the focaccia to begin your meal. We also enjoyed mussels, Bolognese and calamari. We all tried each other's plates and everything was wonderfully fresh. I did find the Bolognese to be just a bit over salted, but perhaps it's only noticeable to another chef.
Our servers, Seba and Anna were patient with our Italian language and extremely accommodating and professional.
It was a lovely evening; and I would easily recommend this restaurant.

There are 3 restaurants on this road. Ca' de Drin was closed the last two times we went, Paolin had one customer and no smells indicating it was worth stopping at and Rosa which we tried.
Very basic casalinga cooking that was ok and worth 3 stars. However, the price we were charged was inconsistent with the food and, my opinion, certainly not what the locals were paying. An ok stop but not worth the trip.
