Things to do in Coba

We stopped for a snack and a drink here, up on the second level overlooking the road, and the waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were drawn in by the menu board outside offering Cochinita Pibil, pork marinated in lime, bitter orange and achiote which is a typical Mayan dish, and it was delicious- the waiter assured us it was a good choice as it was cooked over a genuine wood fire- and it was delicious, served with tortillas and avocado and rice too! To drink, we had a fresh coconut each for $25 pesos. A wonderful snack and very filling!

First restaurant on your right as you arrive in the town of Coba before the ruins. Some of the finest ceviche we have ever had & very inexpensive. Very friendly owners.

Even if the staff is not particularly friendly nor fast, the food is good and generous, and the menu extensive enough to satisfy most people. Beer is served cold, and prices, although not the cheapest, are OK. The restaurant is located right next to the entrance to the Coba ruins, so this is perfect for a late lunch after a morning spent walking from one temple to another.

We decided to eat here after visiting the ruins. It's conveniently located outside the main entrance beside the parking lot. We ordered tacos and enchiladas, as well as some drinks. The meals were great and very reasonably priced. There weren't any crowds at the time of our meal, which made it very relaxing and enjoyable after a long walk and climb at Coba.

Listed in Rough Guide 2011 for Yucatan. We ate here in Nov 2011 on our visit to the Tulum ruins and people deserve to know about it -- a great find right near the ruins.
Had lunch here after the ruins so glad of the sit down, shade, a lovely view and a beer. the food was mediocre but we were hungry and the other places around the ruins looked horrific. It wasn't unpleasant but i wouldn't rush back, though if we did the ruins again i'd still choose this place because of the setting. You sit on lovely shaded terrace which is peaceful, overlooking the croc infested lake : menu has pictures which probably tells you all you need to know about the food. service was attentive and pleasant. Coach parties and minibus trips arrive periodically and are ushered upstairs so it remains quite and peaceful on the down stairs terrace.

This restaurant offers authentic Mayan food and is located near the entrance to the archeological site at Coba
Stopped by here after early visit to ruins followed by visit to the local cenote's (cenotes about 6 km southwest of town; turn left out of parking lot). On our way back to town, this little gem seemed worthy of a stop/look see what with minimal options in town. The simple yet very inviting atmosphere (clean white table cloths, sense of pride in business, smiling mesero ready to greet us) caused us to look at menu which offered classic Mexican fare at very reasonable prices considering it is steps outside the gate at Coba ruins and immediately across the street from the central lake in town. The waiter, super friendly and gracious, had cold beers to our table pronto and gave feedback on the menu both in English to my cohorts and humoured me in Spanish as I stumbled along trying to practise my long ago university Spanish. Outcome from all that was fresh and tasty sopa de limon (meal in itself) x 2, terrific chicken enchiladas in tomato sauce x 1 order, and pork and chicken tacos (4 per order) x 3. Lunch for 4 with a beer each was 535 pesos (before tip). Great local find.

Stop when you see the smoke coming off the grille! There will be locals here and the chicken has a flavor of excellence never duplicated anywhere. They serve plenty of sides and tortillas. Guarantee: you will NEVER get sick at one of these places. After staying at the local hotel and being roused awake by the roosters, you will not feel too bad about eating one!

I hate the overused adjective "authentic". "Charming" is about as bad. Nevertheless we fell in love with this simple, but proud, restaurant attached to a hotel on the road to/from the wonderful, underrated ruins. For dinner we were in the mood for seafood so I had fish tacos and my wife had shrimp panuchos. The fish and the shrimp were obviously fresh and not overcooked. Perfect. The other people there on the 2nd floor told us their non seafood meals were excellent as well. The friendly waiter brought more chips to us when we devoured the first batch and our meals arrived in a timely manner. I would highly recommend Chile Picante after your visit to the ruins.

Pischán is a gourmet restaurant with Yucatecan food, we combine culture, flavor, and tradition in each dish, we have the best chef in the region that will make your culinary experience the best. Come and experience a relaxing moment in our pool while enjo
We decided to stop at this unassuming, somewhat hidden establishment because the sign announced that "We Proudly Serve Starbucks." What we discovered was a modern restaurant / resort with a lovely dining area next to a clear pool and garden surrounded by several private cabanas. Yes, they serve Starbucks coffee, but also delicious Yucatecan food! The service was great. They treated us like family. Alex, the owner/manager even showed us the remains of an ancient Mayan road running just behind the hotel's cabanas in the jungle. It was a magical to take a moment to connect with other travelers who passed that way some 2000 or so years ago.

My family and I loved the restaurant! We had lunch there after visiting the Cobá ruins. Great choices for everyone, also vegans and vegetarians. The omlette, (vegan) fajitas and empanadas as well as my Chaya-Lemon juice all were delicous.Colorful mexican vibes and friendly staff.
