Holbox Island is beloved by bird nerds for its population of exotic avian life. Perched near the Yucatan Peninsula, the island is also a hot spot for whale shark viewing, and kiteboarders love the shallow waters and wide beaches. The white sand streets are relatively unspoiled, as most tourists prefer to party it up in nearby Cancun. A splash in Yalahao Lagoon is about as loco as it gets.

Real Mexican Breakfast
Excellent people watching spot without a hassle and tacky fashion of other main drag joints. I came twice(both for breakfast) and food was always good.Despite friendly staff, service is lousy even in Yucatán/Holbox standard. The place is never busy and it still took the guy over 15 min to bring coffee and a drink. I donât mind food being slow sometimes but slow beverage in this heat is... thus minus 2. Otherwise really liked the place.

Food is simple yet delicious, can't miss the shrimp skewer and an ice cold beer or bottle of white wine!! (yes they do have wine)The live music (Jurassic Band) was amazing with some reagge covers of several songs, however the music playing during their breaks was not amazing and too loud. The view is nice and the tables are comfortable.Service was accurate too.Good for familiesBring cash!!!!!!

This is a small family run restaurant. They are friendly and the ceviche is very fresh and tasty. Prices are fair and it is cash only. They do not sell beer or wine but you are welcome to bring your own and there is no "corkage fee." This is a great spot for lunch.

Great location, friendly staff. The menu had something for everyone in our group with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. Get here on the earlier side to avoid waiting for a table. The mushroom tacos paired with their local beer is definitely worth a try!

Right in the middle of town. Perfect place to grab a drink and watch the traffic on the dirt streets. Had a watermelon daiquiri that was wonderful! I swear it had fresh watermelon in it!

We ate dinner here last night, were seated quickly and our drinks orders taken. As promised, the chef appeared at our table minutes later to tell us about the four dinner options. Our waiter then appeared to tell us we couldn't have margaritas after all (who can't make a margarita in Mexico?!?) and offered us their mezcal cocktail instead. Foolishly we said yes (it was just about drinkable). Our food then arrived- five minutes max since ordering. Yes it was tasty, but that does set 'pre prepared' or even microwaved alarm bells ringing. When the bill arrived we were quite shocked to see that with service it came to just under one thousand pesos. That's $1000 for two dishes and two drinks! I was initially a bit suspicious when there was no menu and no price list- know we know why.

The food at this place is absolutely amazing. The smoked marlin tostada was our favorite dish on the island. The guacamole is perfect. Fish taco incredibly fresh (slightly undercooked at our last visit though). The shrimp/black bean (burrito?) was delicious and the margaritas perfectly made. Also, the view from the garden is amazing. I highly recommend this place!

The food was mediocre and cost more. Fish tacos and shrimp tacos tasted more like panko fried onion tacos. We paid double to eat here and less food. The service was horrible, they took forever to get our order, give us drinks and bring out the food. We asked for no onions on the taco and I heard the waiter tell the cook no onions (sin cebolla) and they put extra onions which really sucked because it was all over and left the taste. I picked out as much as I could but there was just so much. This place seems more like a locals place for the people who live there- I am Mexican and speak fluent spanish so I do not think it was a language barrier. to top it off they tip themselves but not giving you back the right change. I would not eat here even if it was free. There is many places on the island that will welcome you as a tourist, skip this one.
Where to eat Mediterranean food in Holbox Island: The Best Restaurants and Bars

El mejor restaurante de carnes de la Isla. Verduras grilladas y sabrosas pastas. En un elegante ambiente, con dedicada atención.
We were here in January and enjoyed our dinner. We were looking forward to another diner when we arrived in June. I donât know what has happened since we last visited and this will be our last time. FoodWas just ok. It wasnât great like last time. We were the only table in the restaurant and right after our food was delivered to our table all the staff left the building. Never in my life have I seen that happen! They never asked if our food was good, didnât pour our wine. When they did come back, the waitress, sat in a chair at the grill /bar and chatted on her phone. The man who was so amazing 6 months ago, brought out our food and wine, was distant and unwelcoming. Im not sure what is going on at this place but if this continues I donât think they will be in operation in another six months. We were the only ones in the restaurant, is it so hard to give good service to one table??? Food was mediocre at best. Disappointing
