Quepos, a small town in Puntarenas province, is located on Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast and is undoubtedly one of the best places in the world for big game sport fishing. However, Quepos also offers vacationers a wealth of other activities to do as well. The nearby plaza has many fine restaurants, art galleries and souvenir shops, most within a short walking distance of your beachfront vacation rental. Book an exhilarating canopy tour, go horseback riding, kayaking and rafting. Learn to surf or watch the surfers ride the waves; you’ll wonder at their athleticism.

I have been a Booking.com customer (Genius) for some 25 years or so, and never, ever, have I been forced to move out of a booked hotel. On the first morning at 4am at this hotel, I was woken up by the loud crowing of a rooster from an adjacent holding – it went on for hours. I was not warned about this problem, so I could have made an informed choice. In effect, I was misled because I had booked this property for 7 nights and paid in full. A staff member then recommended ear plugs which I purchased from a nearby pharmacy. However, the very next morning, the rooster started to crow around 4am again. Therefore, I had no alternative but to move out to another hotel for the next 5 nights and pay for the new hotel as well as Peace of Paradise. When I explained to staff that I was moving, one staff member admitted that the rooster problem was upsetting them too but mitigated that they were preoccupied in finding a solution to the noisy nightclub nearby (I did hear loud music, but the piercing repetitive rooster crows were taking priority in the upsetting stakes for me personally). Another staff member said that I would be refunded the monies I had paid out for Peace of Paradise hotel in full. Nevertheless, when Booking.com informed them of the cancellation (after 2 nights) they refused to refund any monies and said: “I’m sorry but domesticated as well as wild animals are an integral part of the Costa Rica culture and experience.” How insulting, expecting guests to put up with a rooster that crowed loudly every morning. ‘Peace of Paradise’, it was more like ‘Piece of Purgatory’. I had prepared for natural animal sounds and was not expecting man-made and constant screeches from domestic fowl at 4.am. Besides, I was forced to pay for 5 nights that I wasn’t even there. If you don’t take my word for it that the rooster noise pollution exists, email the property before you book and ask if there is a rooster nearby that crows very early in the morning. You might also ask if they are having problems regarding a noisy nightclub – also nearby. I will never book more than one night with Booking.com again. I cannot trust some of the hotels they advertise, and when things go wrong (as seen in this case) loyal customers have no redress because the hotels in question have already taken payment in advance.

Coyaba Tropical is so charming and was the perfect spot to end our 10 day Costa Rican excursion! The property is beautifully landscaped, the pool is so inviting, and Mike and Paul were super hospitable. We loved the intimate setting, and the fact it was adults only! The location is just down the hill from the Hustle and Bustle of Quepos/Manuel Antonio, but still conveniently located! Highly recommend.

The entire property is covered with beautiful flowers and exotic plants from all over the country. There are plenty of places to take memorable photos with the family while being surrounded by flowers. Rooms come in several variations and categories, in order to accommodate every need.
This is a good option for lodging. Pros: Great views of trees and the ocean. Scarlet macaws, iguanas, and titi monkeys on the property. Pretty good typical lunch. Good A/C, TV, and blankets. Nice pool area. Reception booked all my tours. Cons: The water can come and go and the restaurant takes a long time to serve breakfast which is tricky when you are trying to leave for the day. No coffee in the rooms. Overall, very pleasant! I would stay here again but I would bring snacks and coffee with me.

Amazing room for the price like others have said. Property looks like it was recently renovated and the room was very modern and clean. The bathroom was certainly much nicer than what I have at home. I stayed in the family room that didn't have a kitchenette but there was still a fridge and some supplies for preparing basic food. Room would have easily cost twice as much if we stayed on the hill in "Manuel Antonio" rather than in town. Neighborhood was shockingly quiet and seemed safe enough. Secure parking for our rental.

I landed in Kayak Lodge as there were no other options over new years, and it turned out to be the biggest blessing. It is located 15 minutes outside of Quepos in a very quiet and relaxing location with a swimming pool. The owner is a real angel, she makes everyone happy and fulfils any wish. She also organised a boat trip through the mangroves to our a little island without any people for swimming with a sweet local man. If you look for luxury and nice tourist location that is not for you, if you want to get a feel of local Costa Rican hospitality that is THE place.

Surrounded by primary rainforest with mountain ranges looming in the distance, the Blue Banyan Inn is a charming bed and breakfast catering to the environmentally conscious. The Blue Banyan is part of Finca Braman’s 75-acre ecologically sustainable community, encompassing private homes, a wildlife sanctuary and a volunteer center.
Mildly adventurous journey to arrive at the quiet, secluded location in the forest. The private room was large, spacious, attractively decorated with beautiful views of the garden and forest on three sides. A firm and extremely comfortable bed - much appreciated after the long drive from San Jose. A lovely, generous, fresh breakfast was a great start to our next day in the warm, hospitable and interesting company of Chip, the founder of the wildlife sanctuary attached to the Blue Banyan Inn. We only overnighted here as we were on our way to the Osa Peninsula but would certainly recommend staying here to avoid the traffic and noise of Manuel Antonio or the busy town center Quepos.

Puerta del Cielo is an exclusive 7-room hotel in Quepos, conveniently located in the center of the city, just minutes away from the beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park and the Pez Vela Marina. Quepos is located on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica and is, without a doubt, one of the best places in the world for big game sport fishing. However, Quepos also offers vacationers a lot of other activities to do as well.
Modern, spacious and superbly comfortable accommodations with easy access to Manuel Antonio Beach and National Park, Puerta del Cielo is a gem. Fabiola, the key staff person is supremely responsive and customer service oriented. Breakfast is terrific. As is the Simple Cafe, which is run by the hotel for snacks and lunch as well. I HIGHLY recommend this well-priced hotel.
