We suggested to a couple of friends that's we should try this restaurant for dinner before heading out to see "les feux du Casino". The evening turned into a disaster. My husband and I ordered the Chef Surprise a three course meal to enjoy and experience as chosen by the Chef. Our friends ordered just one course each. So imagine the waitress brings out our friends Dinners and brings nothing to us. It was getting more and more awkward as 10/15/20 minutes passes and we still haven't received our appetizer's. Not one of the waitresses even noticed, nor did they come by to see how are friends were going with their meal. They were too busy hanging out at the bar area chatting instead of doing their job. Now we are 30 minutes in so my husband goes to the bar to ask what was the delay. Then I see THEY WERE ARGUING WITH MY HUSBAND TELLING HIM WE HAD GOTTEN OUR MEAL. I can see him at the bar trying to explain but they are not listening to him. Finally another waiter realizes that my husband is telling the truth. We hadn't received any part of our meals. They hadn't even ordered it. It's beyond me how a waitress doesn't even realize her clients didn't get anything to eat. The restaurant is a tiny little place with maybe 10 tables in it. Arguing with a client who is trying to explain that you forgot him. So full of themselves they can't use their brains for two seconds to think it through, "why would a client say he didn't get a meal if he did. Needless to say my friends by this time are wrapping up their dinner. Everything is awful. They are uncomfortable we are uncomfortable. THE KICKER HERE IS NOT ONE OF THEM APOLOGIZED. They just ordered the food and told us they would get it out fast. Imagine it. If we weren't are ready late we would of told them to stick it. They send over a new waiter to serve us because the other two didn't have the courage. Remember still not one sorry... NOT EVEN A FREE COFFEE. NOTHING. JUST BAD SERVICE. IT TOTALLY RUNED OUR EVENING. TO BE TREADED SO BADELY. ITS BEEN 2 hours since I left the restaurant and I am still shaken up.

Right next to the "Beaver Tail" business but is the total opposite as in gluten free. The lovely lady in charge greeted us in French. Then she switched to English for our benefit. The range of gluten free products not only pastries but bread of all sorts. The array of goodies is like an alladdins cave full of goodies. They also do catering and or lunches which is very useful for business people on a break. Sadly the lady in charge said business is quiet at the moment due to renavations to the houses of parliament. The huge throngs of visitors normally come to the Olive and Chili for coffee break or lunch. So I hope for her sake the builders finish up and the tourists return. The other thing about her friendly shop is that they do lovely coffee.Well worth a visit.Seamus M thank you for visiting Olive & Chili where our kitchen, bakery, pastry and coffee shop is 100% gluten-free and celiac safe with no possible cross contamination. We arrived a bit early, but our table was ready in the front room by the window. Unlike many restaurants, the sitting between tables is spacious and not crowded. The overall atmosphere was elegant but understated (jacket and tie not required -- dress code is business casual and up. I was comfortable in slacks and collared shirt.). The service was attentive and professional. We had the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairing -- tuna tartar, seared scallops, duck, deer, & panna cotta (portions sizes were spot-on for 5-courses). In addition to the courses and wine, we were given other tasting samples throughout. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious, beautifully plated (but not over the top) and described by the waiter. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meal and we would absolutely return. Thanks for a superb evening.

Shared the surf-and-turf. The deep-fried tempura-style lobster was almost impossible to eat. The steak was tiny. and the flavour wasn't great. Service was very good- and a decent wine list. Don't think I'd ever go back.

I have been to this restaurant over five times. It is a high end fine cuisine wine bar. The service is amazing. The staff is knowledgeable and also very pleasant. This time I had the Tempura Fried Mushrooms which was so delicious and memorable. I also had the Bison Tartar which was decadent. I finished with a shrimp/endive salad which was refreshing. I had a nice red wine which was paired with my Bison Tartar. My meal was 85$ including the wine and tip. It is a reasonable price for fine cuisine restaurant like this one. I highly recommend a detour, although itâs a limited menu your choices will not disappoint.

I invited my friend for dinner we choose the place based on google recommendation for seafood restaurant in Gatineau. Location is great but food was bad! It was undercooked or over cooked, cold and too oily.it look really long to get the order, we had to ask for bread to be brought! I ordered fried calamari which was cold undercooked and very oily! my friend got the Salmon where it was overcooked and risotto not cooked. The waiter told us that's how it supposed to be!! I always go for good restaurant, but this one disappointed m. Definitely not recommended at all!!

The menu offers a variety of original choices. For appetizer, my wife chose the escargots prepared with a buttery, herbal sauce, not the usual heavy garlic base, and it was excellent. I selected the Chorizo de Lisboa: very spicy, outstanding. For main dish we both had the Ali Baba, a merguez and chicken couscous: good but unremarkable and very copious servings. The crême brulée was OK but the bread served with the meal was absolutely excellent. The service was good and efficient. The whimsical decor was quite interesting. On this evening, the restaurant hosted a large party that was quite noisy, which put a damper on our enjoyment of the dinner.

Le Baccara is by far one on my favorite restaurants, and I go back really often.Offering an awesome atmosphere with delightful service and food, this 5 diamond restaurant is fully up to the category it has achieved. It's a very good place to go solo, in couple, with friends, or even for business dinners. I would not recommend going with children.Great value for the money... I know a lot more costly restaurants that do not get even close to what Le Baccara offers.I personally love ordering the "Seven-course", which is a tasting menu that I can assure can delight even the most exquisite taste buds.Getting to the restaurant may be a little awkward and noisy because you have to go through the casino, but, once there, the elegant and quiet environment make it really a special place.
