Find out what Canadian restaurants to try in Tadoussac. Tiny Tadoussac, a Quebecois village of fewer than 900 inhabitants on the St. Lawrence River, is renowned as a whale watching destination. Tours are readily available to see the vast creatures feast on krill in the St. Lawrence and to explore the stunning Saguenay fjord, but you can often spot whales from the shore. The oldest surviving French settlement in the Americas, Tadoussac has a slew of national parks within easy reach. There is a frequent free ferry service across the Saguenay River.

I had both the breakfast buffet and dinner here. The food and service were excellent, but a little on the pricey side.

We arrived in Tadoussac around lunch time and began looking for a restaurant. We came upon Le Bateau which looked nice with an outdoor dining area perched atop a small cliff and overlooking the valley area below. It turned out to be a buffet -- "all you can eat" (or "all you care to eat"). I need to be careful with such restaurants as I have a normal tendency to observe rites of the former -- all you can eat -- rather than the more sensible alternative. It turned out that the options were copious: two soup options (chicken soup and pea soup) -- of course I tried both; delicious. Main course options -- (a) semi cooked spaghetti which the dinner finished cooking in hot water, with multiple topping options; hot salmon tort; sliced ham; (b) several hot vegetable options and cold salad ingredients; (c) several delicious deserts; and (d) complementary hot coffee. It was copious. Sitting on the open terrace was delightful; the service was very good. The food was not haut cuisine, but it was flavorful, filling; and quite the bargain.

We were looking for a pleasant, tasty lunch before going on an afternoon whale-watching excursion and this place was just perfect. The staff were pleasant and the prices were fair. We had the full lunch with soup and dessert and it satiated us until after our excursion. We both had seafood and pasta entrees.

Stopped in for a quick bite before our boat tour. Friendly and fast service but 17$ for 3 pieces of small fish that was fairly greasy wasnât my idea of a good meal. The poutines had a good gravy though and were enjoyable.

To begin, Tadoussac is a pit of a tourist trap waterfront town. Finding an actually decent place to eat in these types of places is often a crap shoot. That being said, our family had a reasonable meal here. My burger was good, but I think the real winners are the salads which are huge. Get a table outside and enjoy the view.

Ate dinner at this Café on our second night in Tadoussac. Friendly staff, great service. Lovely, cosy, bistro vibe and soft lighting . Excellent meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan, options, using local, seasonal ingredients and all invitingly presented. Delicious desserts too! Not easy to find in a touristy town. Loved the pork filet mignon and the tuna dishes. Both were cooked to perfection with generous veggies. The wine recommended by our server was perfect too! Ended the meal with delicious pudding chomeur and moelleux Grabel.
